True Blood discussion for last night's episode. Big showdown in 2 weeks *** spoilers ***
So it seems the only way they can kill Maryann is if she's in the middle of one of those trances which means they're going to have to put Sam on that big meat cross.

And Eric wearing in that scene where he was wearing Letita's house dress was so fricking funny.

1. I only got to see the epsiode once --
but I thought I picked up something where it was more than just being in a trance, but while being "ravaged" by the God Who Comes"?? Or maybe I was just just on crack last night. :D

Why I am thinking that Sam is going to have to be actually be (almost) killed and then saved by Bill during the big ritual?

Loved the little disclosure that poor Layafette is being haunted by sexy dreams of Eric. That poor guy - I don't know which is worse: sexy dreams about the man who had you chained in his basement or hallucinations about that same man in pearls and a summery print! It is always freaky as heck but effective when they have Eric dressed up like that during one of Lafayette's epsiodes.

Poor, poor Hoyt -- first his girlfriend almost kills his Mom, then Mom decides to urp up every dirty little secret she has been hanging onto the last 28 years. I forget who first said this but, Maxine sure is like Paula Dean on crack!

I have to say I was incredibly underwhelmed by Rachel Evan WhatsHerName as The Queen - her performance felt right out of a high school production -- all affectation and no real internal spark. :( It was such a downer after watching Hyde's excellent work as Godric. I didn't get any feel for why she was fucking with Bill the way she was -- there was a whole subtext missing there she should have given that character.

I have to think about this episode some more.

7. That is one big MFing egg!
Someone over on the TWP boards brought up something interesting -- Maxine saying how Maryanne will be really disappointed after "it", and then was rambling about how she had "done it once" and after that, it was all down hill, and then recited all the things she would have been doing if Hoyt hadn't come along. Was Maxine "done it once" about having a child? And is Maryanne looking to have her first child -- the egg? I had always wondered if Maryanne's machinations to get Eggs and Tara together was related to procreation, but the size of that... ouch!

Oooo, had an interesting thought -- after Maryanne slapped Tara and sent her back into the blck-eyed state -- after Marynne is gone, can those who have come under her influence be sent back into the bad state when their base urges are brought up? Hmmmm....

Forget to mention the Sheriff square dancing in his boxers with Andy -- that is one visual Andy is sure to have trouble letting go off!

I wonder: Since Tara is remembering everything that went on while under the influence, will the rest of the towns people as well?

3. I totally agree about Rachel's performance. I thought it sucked.
I did feel sorry for Hoyt too. Will he go back to his girlfriend? I loved how Eric and Bill are threatening each other. Who will win out? I hope Sam doesn't die during this sacrifice. I want him to stay on the show. And Tara's poor mom. She is weak.

8. I was watching it in HD ---
and I didn't know which I was more distracted by -- her performace or the acne cluster on her chin the make-up artist had been fighting to cover.

This HD stuff -- great for nature programs, not so great for people programs. :D

I think Sam is here to stay with us - he is one of the characters who is throughout the book series. And now that his secret is out -- I think it could make for a more interesting plot line for him. I loved Jason's musings on the different things Sam could turn into! :D I can see Arlene's kids having fun asking him "Turn into a dog! Now turn into a turtle!" I saw in interview with Sam Trammell where he said his character was going to turn into "something very small and very big this year" -- we saw the fly - wonder what the really big is going to be??

4. Maxine was on a rampage
I guess being tranced finally blew away all the repression keeping that in. Poor Hoyt, indeed.

9. Yup...
all the "ugly" came pouring out of Maxine -- that was one messed up relationship already -- how does it recover from that kind of revelation?

Now that I think about it, it could actually be good for them both. He may not feel so obligated to remain in such an emeshed relationhip with her out of his sense of obligation, and she may be freed up to actually live the life she had wanted to and felt so much resentment about.

10. I was surprisingly disappointed with Evan Rachel Wood.
I thought she'd kick ass in that role. But, I have to agree that she gave a silly, affected performance. Especially as compared to Godric (and remember, she's even older than him), the Queen seemed, well, less than evolved.

11. I was really lost --
as to who that character was. From the information we know about her -- a Queen, 2100 years old, surely a political animal -- but the characterization evoked none of that. It was just embarrassing to watch.

12. Well, she doesn't have to be too political...
after all, age determines status here, and she's the oldest. But she just seemed to lack the worldliness that Godric had. Just from having watched the show, and comparing her to the other vamps, I'd have guessed she was maybe 500 or 600 years old, not more than 2000.

15. In reading around --
I have seen both one hundred years older than Eric (so 1100, not 2100), and 400-500. I guess I am confused now.

The "Queen of Lousisana" is supposedly the most powerful vamp there is in the US -- I don't know if that is a title bestowed via a maker's lineage or a political office one attains with time and shrewed political skills.

Whichever it is, I still wasn't getting it from ERW -- terribly casting choice, I fear. :(

14. I was also curious about what Eggs and Tara were doing in the end!
Was that some sort of egg and nest in that bed?

16. Yes, a very ---
BIG egg! :D In watching the trailer and reading the season finale synopsis, Maryanne's plan involves someones wedding -- whether it is supposed to be Eggs and Tara (with Baby Egg one the way) or Maryanne's to The One Who Comes, I dunno.

We have to wait two weeks to find out. You should have head me squeal when "In Two Weeks" came on screen -- my nephew said, "Take it easy, Aunt Kris!" :D

18. That is so not fair with the 2 weeks

And what's worse is I'm going to have to wait a year for a new season. I haven't felt like that about a TV show in ages.

20. I think I am the only one not bothered by the Queen
First off, I saw it as her having been a vampire for so long that she's not very human anymore.

Also, as much as I love this show, there is stilted and overly-dramatic acting all over the place, so....

(don't hate me!)

23. I think Rachel Evan Ward played her a bit too campy but your point is valid
especially since you spent the first 2099 years living without the humans knowing about you.
