1. I hope they can track the owner of that arrow down.
Then, I hope the owner gets the shit beaten out of them.

2. Mr. Peabody was shot with a pellet gun - in the back - by a neighbor and got over the fence
and home so we could take him to the doctor.

5. Since the pellet was not removed and we didn't see it happen, we couldn't, BUT...
we learned who did it from folks - folks we didn't even know - that implicated him. 'Bod was a stray that moved in with us. He was VERY friendly, so he knew everyone in the neighborohood.

Anyway, the police came as a result of our complaint and the cop was VERY understanding. My dad explained that the neighbors over the fence ALL pointed The Finger at such and such a guy and the cop, whom my dad described as a big guy who wore his heater on his hip - went to the house and scared the shit out of the guy about dispensing firearms in a residential area and told him it was not legal to shoot squirrels, cats, etc. We never had another incident.

Mr. Peabody, despite being shot 3 times before the age of 5 - twice with a bb and once with the pellet - lived very happily to the age of 22!! He loved playing with children and was always very social. He didn't let the bad guys win. An amazing cat.

12. My dad once saw a college colleague pick up a cat and throw it against a wall killing it. So my dad
picked the guy up and threw him against the wall. Only time he had ever been involved in a fight.

6. If anyone did that to my cat, I would kill them. No question.

Sorry. I would hunt them down and murder them. Justifiable if ever there was.

I'll take trial by jury and hopefully walk away. If I was on the jury I would acquit every time.

It's time we cull the herd, so to speak, and get rid of these monsters in our society.

Sorry, but this stuff really sets me off...

7. If it was done intentionally, I agree
the ass that did it should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

However, there is a possibility that someone may not even realize they hit the animal. If they were out target shooting and missed the target and there were high weeds or a woods behind the target and the cat was hunting in that area, the shooter may have spent 30 minutes looking for his/her arrow wondering where in hell it went. Meanwhile, 'wayward cat limps home with 13 inch arrow shot through it's head.'

Just saying, it is a possibility. I like to target shoot but sometimes when I'm standing too close to the target the arrow will go through, or on occasion, I'll miss the damn thing. Eventually, I gave up the practice because The Damn Mutts INSIST on being outside whenever I am, and I am terrified they'll run between the target and I at JUST the wrong time.

10. If someone did this intentionally...
Edited on Thu Sep-03-09 05:02 PM by BreweryYardRat
...the correct response is as follows: Call vet. Have arrow removed. Find person responsible. Jam the remains of the arrow through one eye into the brain. Since there might not be enough momentum to kill on the spot, move the arrow around until the bastard dies.

If it was unintentional (see the "target shooting accident" scenario in post #7 above)...dunno. Cuss them out for their carelessness and demand they pay the vet bill?
