Totally gnarly, dudes!

Freshwater surfing meet is this weekend...

HERE IN SHEBOYGAN!!! :woohoo:

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. -- Hanging 10 in the heart of the Dairyland -- that's what hundreds of people will do this weekend at Sheboygan's North Beach.

The town probably best known for its sausages this weekend will become better known as the freshwater surfing capital of the country.

Looking over the white sands of North Beach at Deland Park with the lake fading into the blue September sky, it seems the perfect setting for a surfing competition, WeatherWatch 12 Meteorologist Lance Hill said.

1. that trips me out

Longboarding on a lake...I lived in Chicago for over ten years, after having grown-up surfing in SoCal, I always looked for surfable waves around the city and never saw any. They exist I guess elsewhere up or down Lake Michigan's coast. Apparently the storm waves can been deadly for ships too.

2. About 20 years ago...

During a fairly windy day my girlfriend and I went out on the breakwater on Lake Michigan, and we got drenched. :-)

And nearly knocked INTO Lake Michigan a number of times.
