What the hell football team is the "Houston Texans"? Never heard of them, but they are listed
in the Forbes listing of NFL franchises by value.

http://www.forbes.com/lists/2008/30/sportsmoney_nfl08_Houston-Texans_302019.html

They came in at number 8.

Never fucking heard of them.

Did they used to be the Oilers? Wasn't there a Houston Oilers football team?

1. Wow! They have been existance since 2002. The Houston Oilers
moved to Tennessee settling in Nashville, and became the Tennessee Titans.

No...the Tennessee Titans are the old Oilers franchise
The Houston Texans are an expansion team given to Houston about 5 years ago now IIRC. I'm surprised you aren't familiar with them. Their huge stadium (Reliant Stadium) was a temporary shelter for Katrina refugees from the Superdome in 2005.

4. Was that the stadium that Babs said the people have it better than in their old homes?
I guess it never dawned on me that there might be a new football team in that spot.

Shows how much I follow sports!

seriously, though, even in the background - and I live around a LOT of football fanatics - I've never heard the term "Houston Texans" in reference to football.

34. Thanks!
I love it too :D

I think with the stadiums, that it was Reliant Energy's intention to get the city to demolish the Astrodome, but there was enough of an uproar by the natives that it was left in place. I've heard all sorts of ideas for its use over the years including converting it into condos and movie studios. Interestingly, Rice Stadium holds as many people as Reliant's stadium (100,0000) but as it's not covered, they had to have us residents of Houston cover the costs for them to have their plaything.

The one unfortunate thing about that Google Maps image is that it doesn't show "The Larva" (inflatable practice field)

6. It was even mentioned in Cast Away
Chuck: We have a pro football team now, but they're in Nashville?
Kelly: Um, yeah. Oh, my God. OK. They used to be in Houston. First they were the Oilers, and now they're the Titans.
Chuck: The Houston Oilers are the Tennessee Titans?
Kelly: Yeah. But that's not all. They went to the Super Bowl last year.
Chuck: And I missed that.
Kelly: You would've died. They almost won by one yard. One lousy yard, right at the end.

Instead of asking for information so as to be educated about the topic?

What a shit-ass fucking attitude, and how disgustingly symbolic of the current American attitude toward "education".

Fucking hell.

I hope you can get over yourself someday.

I assume then that you were born with a full knowledge of the intricacy of NFL rules, an encyclopedic knowledge of NFL history, and also, I'm sure, an absolute command of mathematics that haven't been invented yet, a complete understanding of the Unified Field Theory and how to prove it, and everything else in the universe that it is possible to know.

I wish I had your intelligence and command of all knowledge and information that has ever been generated or will ever be generated.

Please tell me - what's the formula (or formulae) for the universal cure for all forms of cancer? You could really help humanity with your infinite knowledge. The moral thing to do would be to share the contents of your oh-so-magnificent brain.

But any team with an absurd logo and color scheme deserves runaway obscurity.
