The Twelve Days of a Decadent Holiday!

Sometime ago, I had been doodling in one of my notebooks, and could hear myself singing, of all things, The Twelve Days of Christmas. It's a catchy little tune, but I hardly ever remember the gifts from about the seventh day to the twelfth day, so I started making up my own lyrics instead.

Just the other day, I found my notes, and had to laugh--the lyrics were shaping up to be filled with clever takes on true, decadent proportions.

So, I am sharing the "final" lyrics with all of you--I hope that talking about "Season's Greetings" in September doesn't make anyone feel a little colder (unless, of course, they want it to!)!

On the first day of the holiday, my sweetheart gave to me

a Cadillac SUV;
two diamond rings;
three jet planes;
four Bose Waves;
five Rolex watches;
six trips to Paris;
seven Gucci handbags;
eight Aspen ski trips;
nine tropic islands;
ten van Gogh paintings;
eleven New York condos;
twelve designer dresses.
