PIttsburgh to Pittsburghers - Its the G-20 summit, so leave town!
Banner on today's Post Gazette local newspaper.

Our town is in such an uproar, city council fighting with the mayor about the costs, roads to be closed, giant bill-boards, things cleaned up that never are, ordinances against protestors and masks almost enacted, schools closed, businesses downtown to be boarded up, people fleeing town.

It's insane

4. well, our school apparently built in the days- but the whole thing is kind of
a pain in the butt.

I was thinking about where we could go away for a long weekend, since the school is also closed for Yom Kippur on the Monday following the summit.

Hated it.

5. I spend a lot of time in Pittsburgh (was there Fri night - yesterday morning)
What a great town! A couple of weekends ago, caught a game at PNC. Lots of fun. Saturday, Sports Rock was the perfect place to take in the college games.

But I'm glad I'm not there for the G20!

6. it's a lovely city and very affordable with lots of fun and cultural activities
as well as sports. PNC Park is gorgeous, but alas our Pirates haven't been as productive since the trades.

Glad you like our city! :hi: We've had great weather this summer.

7. It's a great town. I've found myself bidding lots of layovers there
Great hotel (right at the convention center). Walking distance to North Shore, the sports facilities and lots of restaurants. And yes, the weather has been fantastic.

Was in the hotel lounge Friday night, and Jerome Bettis came walking in. How cool is that?

10. and there is so much more to do downtown than there ever was - in the
past, 10-15 years ago, unless there were shows at the Benedum, there really wasn't that much to do downtown at night - it was kind of a ghost town in some parts. Now near the Convention Center and down Penn to 6th, there are so many little clubs and restaurants, you can even eat outside... it's amazing, really. Nightlife there is a very good thing!

12. I have sampled the nightlife there...lot's of fun
I've closed August Henry's on Penn on more than one occasion. That's a lot of fun, as it's just a short walk to the hotel from there.

I will definitely be doing more of those trips!

11. exactly - it would be kind of cool to see all the folks visiting here, but
I don't know that anyone will be able to get near the action!

I've heard really neat things about Put-in Bay, and Cleveland has some great night-life, as well as wonderful art.
