Dog walk gone strange.
Last night we decided that we needed to take advantage of a break in the storms to take our two dogs out for a bathroom break. The dogs are old and are afraid of thunder and lightning, so walking them during even far off flashes is hard. Well, anyway we only took them into our back and side yard hoping that this would be sufficient. Everything went okay until.....

My daughters dog lunged forward with her hair in full razor back stand up mode. A few feet away (in the neighbors yard) an animal ran out from behind their recyclable bins. At first we thought it was a cat but realized it was a skunk. "Oh no!" was my daughter's response as she held her dog back. Then the strange part happened. A few seconds after the skunks appearance a cat followed it from the hiding spot and across the yard to disappear behind the building in the next lot.

Now the question is: Are they just animal friends or did we witness/interrupt a Pepe' Le Pew moment?

1. That would be funny. More likely the kitty flushed out the skunk...
Our "watch"-cat Jack does that. He will sit quietly watching an intruder, whether frog, bug, armadillo, or other cat, then ATTTACCCKKK!!!! Usually the intruder just runs away.

2. Perhaps,
but it didn't appear to be the case.

The cat is a stray ferrell cat that hangs around our house much of the time. Likes sleeping on our front gable (don't know if it is really a gable but don't know what else to call it.) so it is out of our dogs reach. The skunk also likes hanging around our house, only he/she comes at night. Did I mention that we feed the birds and squirrels. I think the skunk comes to partake of this feed and the cat comes to stalk the birds and squirrel.
