Oh no, I think I'm turning into a prude!
My 10yo niece and I were at my mother's for Labor Day and on Sunday night my niece was watching some tween-teen sitcom with the main character taking about making out with his GF and being told by a doctor that he got a urinary tract infection from having sex with said GF. I'm hearing this and I blurt out "should you really be watching stuff like that, Skylar? And I get a heavy sigh and says "I watch this ALL THE TIME, Tay!"

OK, then, sorry I asked... :yoiks:

1. I guess I'm a prude, too!
10 seems awfully young for that kind of crap; or maybe she doesn't know what they're talking about, at least the UTI part!

)))))sigh(((((

2. I'm far from a family values conservative, but...
I do think it's really weird to have young kids watch this kind of stuff.

3. ok...your not a prude.....
your just concerned with the BullShit that is beaming in from the tv to your kids.

PSA to all of you whom have bitched about less GOV interference with what your kids watch on the tube in favor of a more "hands on" approach, this is what were talking about....

Unless you, or more appropriately her PARENTS have discussed this with her, than it may not be appropriate. IMO that is some sick shit for a 10 Y.O. to be subjected to "all the time," but that's just me. Maybe I'm a prude. maybe not.

If you don't like the dribble on TV, change the channel, or better yet, TURN IT THE FUCK OFF!

I remember these things, called BOOKS, and WOW did they take me places other than the sofa and an STD. and I am only 29!

If you or the Parents do approve, then by all means, let the child bask in the creative juices of what-ever-the-hell you were watching.
I'm sure It cant be any better/worse than what the Disney channel has on every day.

sorry about the rant, I'm in a mood

5. Yeah, I get that.
I have nephews and nieces and sometimes it seems like they experience this type of stuff waaaayyyy too early. I have a night job at a movie theater and so I see a lot of teenagers go through and I think about the girls(and some of the boys) "Their parents let them leave the house like that!?!?"
