7. Mona. Cippolina was vastly underrated.
Burned more than a few listening to this tune.

I was glad to see him make the Rolling Stone list of the 100 greatest guitarists. One of the very few things RS got right on that list.

War was such a part of the SoCal scene in the late 60's and early 70's.
I really like "Me and baby Brother"
I would sing it to my baby brother when we went for a cruise...

19. The first time I saw Van Halen was at the La Serna High School gym
Paid the outrageous sum of 50 cents to get in. Even back then VH had a rep for drawing tons of hot surf chickies.

52. It's amazing how many of the bands I listen to name these guys as a major influence.
None of the bands sound anything like them for the most part, but Captain Beefheart clearly made an impact on how they approach music.

25. yeah--X -The greatest LA band (and one of America's best too,) of its era
Edited on Sat Sep-12-09 12:52 AM by abq e streeter
never got to see them; I know they're together and touring again, and was out of town the last time they played in Santa Fe. Hopefully there'll be a next time. Did see Exene and DJ in Auntie Christ several years ago at the Launchpad in Albuquerque. Also ( and how cool is this?) saw John Doe sing Your Cheatin' Heart with Los Lobos and Dave Alvin in Chicago. Man there's two more GREAT LA bands right there...

Linda Tillery and The Loading Zone -- One of my all time favorite bands ever.

The Electric Flag -- When they were on I'm not sure ANY band could come close.

50. Those are a couple of pretty infectious tunes.
I believe I've heard both before, but I'm not sure. I do listen to a lot of jazz, but I don't even know half the artists I hear (the radio station only announces the artists at the top of each hour after playing them, which isn't overly helpful if you don't know the name of the tune in the first place), and I'm pretty out of the loop on R&B stuff (if you see my list above you'll understand lol).

Good songs for a gloomy Saturday morning.
