There are probably better forums than this one to post to, but this should be crossposted.
One of the reasons I delayed going through the procedure was because of hypoglycemic issues which I knew were only appeased by solid starches. So I experimented and found something that worked like a dream. I didn't feel hunger pangs, not once. And the dizzy spells were almost non-existant. Actually, I had a better than normal day.
Breakfast Eat by 8:00 -- White toast and scrambled eggs. To the scrambled egg mix, just add salt and small dash of milk. Leave the pepper out.
9:00 Glucerna -- Vanilla flavor. It's for diabetics but I think it's better than Ensure because it doesn't give you a sugar spike and has the protein-carb combo that cuts down on hunger.
If you feel even the slightest bit shacky after that sip juice every fifteen minutes to make sure your sugar remains level. Stay away from juices that add sugar or have the HFCS. My favorite option was Ocean Spray. They have a cranberry peach and cranberry flavored juice that was clear and good tasting. They do not add sugars or artificial coloring. Remember to sip it. You don't want sugar spikes because your body will want to compensate it with food.
Take it as far as you can before eating the next thing , but if you have anti-anxiety pills prescribed to you by your doc, now is the time to take a very small dose of an anti-anxiety pill. Not enough to sleep, but enough to make your drowsy as you watch the first of a host of movies you rented from the Movie rental store the day before.
10:00 to 11:00 Have a small plate of jigglers. (Jello made denser) You can have green, orange or yellow options. The texture makes you feel like you're eating something.
12:00 Homemade chicken broth. You need to make the broth yourself the day before. Anyone can do it. Here's how:
Cut up a chicken, throw it in the pot. cut a large onion in quarters, throw it in the pot. Cut celerly in four inch stalks, throw them in the pot. Make sure the pot is as high with water as you dare. Bring it to a full boil and then lower the temp to a sustained slow boil. Start skimming off the cream. When there is no more cream to pull off, add salt, basil (no pepper) garlic powder. And, this is the key ingredient: Central American Culantro. This is a thick leaf, which is not cilantro. It is Culantro (pero no tanto!) I threw in six leaves. Continue to boil for a minimum of four hours, continue to skim off some of the clear fat that surfaces. You'll lose alot of the basil because of it, but that's okay. When it's ready, remove everything from the pot that you can with one of those spoons which have a hole in it. Then, get a strainer and some paper towel. Double up the paper towel and put it in the strainer. Strain the soup this way and you'll end up with a good, healthy broth. Put the broth in a good container and stick it in the refrigerator. When you're ready for lunch, take a full serving out and heat it up for lunch. Sip while you're watching your movie.
If you're still hungry afterwards, eat more jigglers, but follow it up with an Izze orange soda. The effervesence will sustain your feeling of fullnes. (Or make seltzer soda with your own favorite juice flavor -- staying away from the HFCS)
Now, by this time, you may want to take a nap, especially if you're taking anti-anxiety pills. Just make sure that someone is around to wake you up when it's time to take medication. Some doctors will prescribe Ducolax at two, and the other stuff by five. I had someone mix the "other stuff" for me, and bring it to me at the assigned times. If I made any mistake at all, it was drinking too large a bowl of chicken soup at four o'clock when I had to drink 64 ounces of the "flume rider" drink, starting at five. That was just too much liquid in my body. But, I do suggest drinking a small cup of soup at four o'clock, just to give your mind a feeling of "dinner."
After that, once everything hits, you'll just wait for a lull to fall asleep. Just in case, be sure someone wakes you up before twelve to take any medication you have to take, because you're not allowed liquids or food after midnight.
Anyways, it worked for me. Had I known it would go so smoothly, I would have done it sooner.
