The whole movie takes place inside an Israeli Merkava tank in Lebanon in 1982.

Just one inaccuracy that I can detect so far: the tankers aren't wearing helmets, even during fire missions. No tanker I know would do that. There's so much to bang your head into inside a tank, you want that skull protection. And firing the main gun without wearing your helmet, with its hearing protection, is just asking to go deaf at a young age...

Still, looks like a fantastic film...

2. Cinematic license -- the camera has to be able to see their faces

3. I'm sure that's the reason. But speaking as a tanker, it makes me cringe.
When the trailer shows the main gun firing, recoiling, and ejecting the spent shell casing, all I can think of is: "Man, that's gonna hurt the ears!"

5. Speaking of tank movies, did you see 'The Beast'?

I'll have to check out 'Lebanon'...

6. I've had it on DVD for years. It's a very poor recording. It is impossible to get subtitles
for the Pashtun speech of the Afghanis without getting subtitles for the whole film, English dialogue included. Last year, I kept hoping someone would put out an improved version for the 20th Anniversary of release, but no such luck.

Still, a great film. When I was in tanker school, I convinced my drill sergeant to screen the film for the trainees, since they used authentic Soviet-made tanks, weapons, and equipment for filming. Vehicle recognition is very important to being a solid tanker.
