Fundies are taught that good works will not get you into heaven but converting more into Christians will. What the joke is, Ephesians was written by Paul and not Jesus. And although a big deal is made of Paul, he was never someone who was prophesized in the old testament like Jesus was AND Paul never even met the guy. He was simply one of thousands of people out there pushing Christianity and somehow he got picked for in the bible. So fundies mock the "Good Works" stuff because Paul said it wasn't the way to get to heaven even though Jesus spent his time on earth doing good things for others.

As far as never meeting the guy, there is little evidence anyone did. Paul makes no mention of the details of JC's life, many of which if true are certainly worth mentioning. And if the prophecy you mention is the one in Isiah, that prediction is resolved in that very same book. Anyway, that JC might conform to some earlier, recorded prediction is hardly surprising since the writers of the gospels had the older writings as reference. (I mean they cheated.)

The fact is if faith is the basis for religious belief, then you have no more reason to think your reading is right than the Fundies or even the Mormons have to think theirs is.
