Top Chef: Las Vegas
This season has been good so far, but the finalists are pretty obvious.

I hope Jen will go all the way!

1. Caught my first episode last week with Joel Bouchon
Jesus Christ, what a panel they had last week. All they needed was Sakai from Iron Chef Japan, and they'd have had the entirety of cooking gods in one spot.

2. Jen! Jen! Jen!
I've had a soft spot for her since early in the first episode when Mike I said she couldn't shuck clams because she was a girl and somebody assumed she was a pastry chef. Then, we it turned out she could cook like a demon, I was sold.

3. Who is this ignorant southern "good ol' boy" guest chef jackass?
Seriously - does the guy have a brain?

5. His name is Tim Love, and yes, he has a brain.
One that functions quite well. I've not been to his restaurant, but I know someone who has. I was told it was excellent.

8. He's Texan, and he's a very respected chef

In fact, he beat Mashimoto on Iron Chef America.

EDIT: Posted in response to Rabrrrrr, not GOPisEvil. Diebold again.

7. Seriously did you learn this from the fact that he is male, white, American and has a drawl?

13. I think it'll be Jen and the Voltaggio brothers, but I like Ashley as a darkhorse candidate...
for the forth spot.

10. Yeah, I thought Mattin was pretty much a prat.
Can't say I'm sorry to see him gone. He never did impress me over much with any of the food he presented.

Has anyone else noticed that by about the fourth or fifth show of the season it is fairly easy to spot the ones that are gonna go pretty far and the ones that are not gonna be around too long? We are at the point now, that we have started to try and ID what WEEK some of them will go home...

11. One of the chefs is the chef at my favorite hotel in the world
I think his name's Ron . . . don't remember. He's the chef at Latitudes at the Hollywood Beach Marriott in Hollywood, FL.

12. Unbelievable that they went to a ranch and no one did beef
8 people did fish. No beans, chili, or beef.
Also read on Tom's blog that the fire pits were propane.

14. every season they do this
have a chefs cook for people not into high end and every season the chefs bitch that they can't do gourmet whatever. Notice the two people who did a caviche both found themselves in the bottom 3 with one going home.

15. I'm sick of the stunt "challenges"
There is NO way I would have eaten the food involved after seeing no apparent refrigeration for fish, etcetera, in 110 degree heat.

If I wanted to watch "Survivor", I would. This is a program involving food preparation. When you're taking a group of people into a desert to make food, not giving them any indication of the conditions, then bitching because the food is "inappropriate" (hey, Padma and Tom, I'm looking at you,) it's not even interesting to me.

Of course, maybe I'm just cranky, but I've really had enough of Padma Lakshmi. What exactly is it that she adds to this program?

17. All the contestants rely far too much on fish and seafood
I am allergic to seafood, so I suppose this bugs me more than it does others, but even given that, seafood seems like an extremely strange choice for ranchhands in the desert.

I remember one year (I think it was year two) when they were catering a celebrity party, and one team leader prepared just three items, EVERY SINGLE ONE of them fish or seafood. One of her team members complained but must have been overruled.

18. I heart Kevin
I predict him, the brothers and Jen in the final. And yeah, the top tier ones really were transparent right from the start. I've been a fan since season 1, and I must say I'm really enjoying this season. Less drama (I'm looking at you Hosea and Leah), great chefs (unlike the poseurs of season 2), and some yummy meals so far (Kevin's bbq pork for the air force challenge made me drool.)

19. I think this might be the first season
were we've gone what? 6 episodes and not a single person has been eliminated due to not seasoning? Every year before they always get someone who hasn't grasped the concept of seasoning their food.
