I'm going to NYC!!! (first time)
Got a rather nondescript email at work last week, went to the meeting, and 8 of us are going to NYC for a fundraiser dinner.

:bounce:

Ani DiFranco will perform at the dinner!! I am "having dinner" with Ani DiFranco!!!

My boss may try to get us to a Broadway Show the first night
3 day trip. Unfortunately it will be a drive not flying... oh well the whole thing is free.

I am already scoping out running routes from our hotel near Times Square (The Plaza was a bit too pricey for our organization)
-I can either run to or take the subway near Central Park and run the whole park one morning including the Dakota, Letterman's studio, the Guggenheim, etc.
-one morning I can do the same towards the financial district and see Ground Zero
-I had another run mapped out last night going towards Tompkin Square
I had it all worked out last night. Will have to do some more research.

Gotham before dawn on the run. Should be really interesting.

1. The Guggenheim is on the so called Museum Mile.
Ten museums and cultural centers on Fifth Avenue, between 82nd St and 104th St.

Enjoy your visit.

2. Letterman's studio is near times sq
Easy walking distance. If you're going to hanging in the Central Park/Dakota area then try to stop in the Museum of Natural History. It's been my favorite quiet places for years. I took the kiddies there a few years ago and even they were blown away with it. They were teenagers so that is saying something.

Here what they have for your visit.

9. You can get a hop-on hop-off 2-day pass for the Gray Line
Those double-decker tourist buses. I did that and they can effectively function as transportation in Manhattan because it's so compact. Then you don't have to mess with subways, etc.

10. YOU MUST GO TO BROOKLYN!!!
If you don't go to Brooklyn, you won't have any clue about how the people of New York actually live. I could add Queens or the Bronx, but that's probably asking too much.

Brooklyn is a 20 minute subway ride from Times Square.
