The Bible itself proves Hovind's full of shit
Kent Hovind is one of DU's favorite people. He's the guy who spent a couple hundred million dollars of other people's money to build a massive edifice to the theory that the earth is six thousand years old, and men coexisted with dinosaurs.

To prove he's wrong, read Leviticus 11--the list of animals which may or may not be eaten. Dinosaurs are not on the list. Since the Bible does not mention dinosaurs in one of the few places where there's a good list of animals, we can safely assume they didn't exist in Biblical times.

2. Nothing in the Bible supports this interpretation.
How can you take something as poetic and rich with metaphor as the Bible literally anyway? I don't understand why people have to feel that it's the literal word of God...it just creates too many contradictions and inconsistencies that you basically have to pretend don't exist in order for it to work.
Ah well.
That being said, I am very much a Christian...just have trouble understanding what's inside the head of some of my brothers and sisters...

3. I of course appreciate religious people who are willing to be reasonable.
More Bishop Robinsons and fewer Jerry Falwells would make this country a better place. Nevertheless, I have to ask: isn't that book the basis of your faith? I don't know, maybe it isn't. But if it is, how do you know what to take as true, divine meaning and what to view as metaphore or parable?

4. And yet dinosaur meat is ever so tasty.

Brontosaurus en croute, perhaps? Barbecued pterodactyl wings? Velociraptor fricassee? Yum.

Although I suppose you could say that it tastes like chicken anyhow....
