Anyone have a working PDA or Palm they aren't using??
I can't afford the monthly data charge Verizon wants if I activate any type of Blackberry. I don't want to send or receive email. I just want to keep notes, contacts and my calendar electronically. If I can sync it with my computer, even better.

PM me if you do.

Thanks!

1. Mine have long since stopped working. But I've got another idea.
FWIW, an iPod Touch does all that stuff, and more. No monthly anythings. And the low end 8 gig one is plenty. Now, I'm a Mac guy, so all this stuff works pretty seamlessly, and I have no idea how this would work, or if it will work, with a Windows computer.

3. Thanks!
I'll keep that in mind if I start getting regular income.

2. I might - but not immediately.
I'm not sure when I'm going to be getting a new phone, but the subject has been coming up so... but it may not be in your timeframe. I'm thinking potentially months

Anyway - I can't think of anyone else I'd rather give it to, if you're still looking when the time comes. I almost didn't want to mention it because it's not a right NOW thing but... I figured I'd throw it out there anyway and if nothing comes through for you you can ask me about it again later :)

Oh and it will sync w/ your pc. It runs Windows Mobile.

4. Hi!
Is it a phone (like a Blackberry?) If so, will it work as a PDA if it's not activated by my cell company? My problem with a Blackberry is that Verizon wants $30/month for a data plan and it's mandatory.

5. It is!
It's got a slide out QWERTY keyboard too - so it's really nice for that. I'm not sure if I unlocked it or not...?? I think I did, so it should be ready to go w/ any service (I think?). Of course you can also just use it w/o the phone service.

Anyway - I have AT&T and do NOT have a data plan. I don't even have text messaging! Because it's Window's Mobile it is very similar to using a computer w/ Windows. I don't have data so I don't get online with it via my cellphone plan...BUT...it has wifi so you CAN connect at hotspots if you want! It also can open/edit word and excel documents.

It's a little banged up - but not as bad as I see a lot of people's phone's looking, and I've had mine for 3 years.

I'm really dragging my feet about replacing it - which is why I'm not sure when I will be. THere's some talk that I may be able to get some thing through work, or that they'd pay for me to have data... and if that happens it will heavily influence the phone I get.

This is what it looks like:

Here's a link to a review... just a random pick from Google (there may be better reviews that give you more information)

6. Addendum...
I know this doesn't quite fall into the "that they're not using" category ... at least not yet. I just wanted to put it out there because if you don't find anything before I get a new one I would love for you especially to have it.

7. Not to totally change the subject...
...but I'm about due for an upgrade, and you ARE due for an upgrade. AT&T allows multiple area codes on the same family plan now. We could save some money...just food for thought.

Back to your regularly scheduled DUing. :)

8. John's talking about potentially putting me on a work plan...
if so I'm going to have to be w/ US Cellular with is SUCK, but then, it'd be free! Too many up in the air things right now - but yes, that is yet ANOTHER thing to consider. lol

9. I can get you an AT&T compatible phone right now.
You could send yours to LG. It's my Sony Ericsson. It's just taking up space presently.

So, options, we haz them. :D

Until I have something that I like at LEAST as well, of course.

12. Verizon won't let me activate a Blackberry without paying the
$30/month data plan with a two year contract. That's why I was wondering if it worked as a PDA if you if it wasn't activated as a phone. I don't want to send or receive email. I just want to store contacts and keep a calendar. My phone doesn't have enough memory (and the screen is too small) to use for this purpose.

Years ago I had a Sony PDA that had Palm software on it. It synched with Outlook and worked great. It's long gone though.

13. I just checked att/verizon phone compatibility...
You will not be able to use mine on Verizon. It needs a SIM card, and Verizon (so I understand) does not use SIM cards. Not that you still can't use it as a PDA, you just can't use it as a phone too. On Verizon anyway.

It totally works like a PDA w/o phone service. It's just like a little Windows computer. The calender it has is the mobile version of Outlook - so you'd be very comfortable with it. It syncs great. You COULD get online with it too - if you were near a wifi hotspot, and you wanted to. :)

It also has expandable memory - I have a microSD in mine that I'd probably consider gifting you as well. You can load MP3s on it and plug in headphones and use it to listen to music, and you can watch videos/movies on it as well. It has a mobile version of Windows Media Player on it.

14. That is so cool
You're too kind. I'm not in any huge hurry. I understand business will start to pick up now that it's getting close to the holidays but life will really go nuts after the first of the year.

Thank you!

15. If you don't hear anything about it from me for awhile and you're wondering what's going on -
PLEASE send me a note. My health issues (on top of issues on top of issues) have me going on zero energy (if it takes effort I procrastinate terribly) AND my brain is fried so I forget and/or space off damned near everything, it seems like. I pretty much suck as a person in that respect. At the very least. :D

16. I certainly can relate to the health issues
while not as severe as yours (and undiagnosed), mine are chronic, barely managed and I'm exhausted all the time. Throw my ADD into the mix and you'll know why getting my practice going has been like climbing Everest with a broken leg. It's so much tougher for me than most. And much tougher for you right now.

17. Well, it's always been my impression that my health issues paled in comparison to yours!
I'm not really sure what's going on with you though, and I'm in a downward spiral. I think at the very least we are equal in that area. ;) Yeah, I'm not fully diagnosed either. And I am FRUSTRATED.

Anyway - I have NO idea what's going on with you now. I knew you had to move back, got a really cute house in the country, and did a lasagna garden. I don't really know what's been going on with you besides that. What practice? Send me a PM and catch me up! I'll do what I can to send you the best vibes I can muster.... there's no one I'd rather see catch a break.

18. I'm trying to get an accounting practice going
I figure that will give me a little more freedom to work when I feel up to it. I got certified as a Quickbooks ProAdvisor in July and have my first real referral client meeting tomorrow. I need 10-15 more of these and I'll be able to sleep at night. :-/

I have fibromyalgia, trigeminal neuralgia (atypical - cranial nerve disorder), allergic to everything except maple trees and feathers, life-threatening allergic asthma and tennis elbow. Oh, and I'm on unemployment and uninsured with thousands in medical bills I can't pay. :P

I'm such a prize!!!

:D

I'd like to catch a break too.

I hope you get some answers soon. I've found you can handle most anything as long as you know what it is.

19. Well we're damned near hand in hand.
Fibro - check. Allergies - check. Asthma - check (although I don't think it's life threatening). Holy CRAP inhalers are expensive now. How do you manage that? Even with insurance mine are ridiculous now that they've reformulated. Let me know if you have a need, I can refill mine often enough that I could send you a couple to help out.

And honey, you ARE a catch. Life issues notwithstanding.

20. Are you using that tiny little ProAir HFA inhaler??
$47 and it lasts only about 2-3 weeks, clogs up constantly and there are no generics now that the propellant in our old albuteral inhalers has been outlawed. The drug companies are making a killing on us and there's not a damn thing we can do. :eyes:

To answer your question, yes. And even if you have expired ones, I'll take them. Yes, it's that desperate.

21. Those are the ones!
PM me your address. I get them two at a time and I have two brand new, unopened boxes right now AND I can get more because I filled these in July. I always try to keep a stockpile - and I haven't touched these because someone gave me another one to try. Proventil. Anyway, that one still has stuff in it and like I said, I can call in another prescription tomorrow. These 2 unopened ones have your name on them!

I promise I'll get off my butt and get them mailed out to you within the week.
