Whispering In The Library Is Still Talking In The Library
If you want to talk to each other, there are thousands of other places to do it. The library is for QUIET study.

That is all.

2. I'd be grateful if whispering was all that happened in libraries here.
At my local library, there are screaming babies and people talking on cell phones all the time.

The Phoenix area is chock full of these idiots with no sense of decency or politeness.

9. Sadly, nobody does anything in the libraries here.
And I'm referring both to the local libraries and the campus library at ASU.

In fact, at ASU, I've seen (and heard) people playing computer games and/or listening to music on the library computers.

The only time I ever saw any authority figure do anything was when a non-student tried to use the ASU computers after midnight - which are then reserved for students only.

The guy had enough metal pierced into his face to prevent him from boarding an airplane, and I'm sure both the librarian and I were glad to see him go.

People here are so stupid. :grr:

6. I think you're being a tad touchy here
if the culprits are actually whispering, they are making an effort to keep their noise to a minimum. Maybe they are working on a joint project and need to discuss it.

8. Bingo.
The library is not a monastery. People are allowed to converse as long as they keep it down.

10. And, There Are Plenty of Places In The Library Where They Can Talk Openly
about a project such as the lounge in the lobby and on the lower levels. Also, there are group study rooms. I was in a quiet study area, and they were whispering loudly behind me.
