Zombie Crawl!
I was in Ava's neighborhood this evening, by NYU at Union Square Park in Manhattan. About 100 of us got together for a Zombie Crawl, including about 40 people from my Harry Potter themed meetup group.

We all showed up in tattered clothing and got made up in ghoulish make up. We has some zombie shuffling and dancing going on in the park, and a bunch of kids joined us dancing Michael Jackson's Thriller.

Then we paraded though a long stretch of Manhattan "scaring" people. We pressed up against shop and restaurant windows moaning and calling out to people inside. We surrounded some cooperative people out on the street and got our pictures taken pretending to gnaw on them. We entertained a whole lot of tourists. The Asian tourists (mostly Japanese and Korean) seemed to get the biggest kick out of it.

We ended the Zombie Crawl at a movie theater about 25 blocks away where most of us stayed to see the ZombieLand movie.

Most of them went out bar crawling after that, but Jennalaw and I came home. It was raining at that point and I was in no shape to stay out any longer. I'm in a whole lot of pain at this point, so I'm recovering right now.

I was the only zombie in a wheelchair so that attracted a lot of attention. One zombie (usually Jenna) pushing another Zombie around while I was moaning that I was hungry and reaching out to grab at people at we walked by, that just seemed to be a picture waiting to happen. A lot of tourists snapped pictures of us. A few really wanted to have their pictures taken with us, so some tourists are going home with photos of us mauling them.

We had 3 photographers with us so there will be a ton of photos showing up on our Facebook, on Flicker, on the page for the Zombie Crawl, and on our Harry Potter meetup group.

Because about 40 of the people there were from our Harry Potter meetup group there were a whole lot of dead HP characters there. It will be interesting to see how those turn out int he photos. That attracted a lot of attention too. Though I wasn't dressed up as anyone or anything from HP. There aren't any HP characters in wheelchairs.

This was a lot of fun. I wish a few of you could have been here to join us. :)

I'll be up for a while until meds get my pain under control, but then I'm going to bed too. :boring:

2. That sounded like fun.
I used to ride bikes late at night in a big group, a big midnight ramble.

Glad you had fun.

5. Riding a bike in NYC is dangerous.
The police here seem to take is as a personal insult that you dare to ride a bike on their streets. They target cyclists for all kinds of abuse, especially if you are riding in a group. :(

I have no idea why our dipshit mayor allows this and refuses to comment on it. He refuses to keep the police in line, or do anything about police brutality.

I am very glad that your midnight rambles were fun and safe where you did them.

4. Sounds fun!
In my town, we're doing a week-long humans vs. zombie game at the end of the month. People wear bandannas indicting what team they are on and if they see each other on the street, they fight!

6. I was surprised that we only had 1 zombie slayer show up for the
Zombie Crawl. A very athletic, attractive woman carrying a toy chainsaw. I don't think she went out of her way to pose for many photos though, so I don't think she got photographed very often. I think she might have felt intimidated being the only slayer there. :(

I hope the humans in your war don't use any of the tactics from the ZombieLand movie! :wow:

That movie is brutal!

7. That movie is brutal! Brutally awesome!
I loved that movie. Utter flesh-eating perfection. The opening sequence is sooo awesome.

The humans will be a pain in the undead flesh. They are allowed to use nerf-guns! :scared:
