14. I really love that song - I used to sing it with a band, but after recently
hearing Otis sing it, I realise I embarrased myself back then. But it was sincere, if poor, imitation.

26. I've always said "Thunder Road"
Not to gloat, but I'm seeing him next week, and he's doing the entire Born to Run album that night. So "Thunder Road" is a lock.

I did see one show where he did my top three: Thunder Road, Rosalita and For You. He never does For You. I could have definitely died happy after that show.

27. heard he did all of BTR in Chicago on Sept 20th too, and I think ended with Rosalita
have a great time, which you and I both know that you will. I'm of course insanely jealous. I did get to see Bruce in Denver in April ( he's played exactly once in New Mexico, and that was solo, in about '95 ; needless to say, I was there) and am hoping that they do a few western shows this fall before hanging this tour up. So far nothing closer than K.C.....I love living in NM ,but one drawback is that its always about 1000 miles round trip to see Bruce ( 900 to and from Denver and 1000 for Phoenix where I saw him in 2002) I don't know that I can narrow down my absolute favorite ; Thunder Road is definitely on the short list as is Kitty's Back along with more obscure ones like Seaside Bar Song and None But The Brave. I was surprised at which songs turned out to be the best performances in Denver: Johnny 99, Youngstown, and Racing in the Street....I picked Promised Land ( also among my favorites obviously )for this thread because of the idea of "I believe in a promised land" right before the end of this life. Also, Thunder Road now has a bittersweet memory for me. I sang it at the funeral of the guy I went to Phoenix with to see Bruce less than a year after the show; he was killed in a freak dirt bike crash. Still love the song though, and as the years pass, it's in the process of returning to be a joyous song again, which is why my friend's wife asked me to sing it in the first place; the joy and freedom it's about ( the night's bustin open , these 2 lanes will take us anywhere)..........can't remember if I've ever seen him do For You. My first E Street Band show was Sept of '75, and with only three albums of material to work with , he may have ( although he did some great covers, including Manfred Mann's Pretty Flamingo, with one of his patented "story" introductions that was so funny I thought half the audience was gonna fall out of their seats laughing...have you ever heard Ballad of Thunder Road by, believe it or not, Robert Mitchum? Will try to post it here....Have a GREAT time at the show, from your jealous fellow member of both DU and E Street nation.....

30. I can't BELIEVE I didn't notice your screen name!
Given the distance you would travel to see the Boss, The Big Man, and band, I bow to you.

I always tell people I saw the Born to Run tour, but what I actually saw was what they now call the "Lawsuit Tour" a year later, which had a Fall, 1976, stop at the Spectrum in Philadelphia (where I'm seeing him next week). It was a over a 3-hour show, and astounding. I couldn't listen to any of this recordings for about a week, because they sounded so tepid compared to the live performance.

It must have been hard to sing Thunder Road for an old friend, but what a gift for his family. His music means so much to so many people and is so intertwined in their lives - just look at all those north jersey folks whose families mentioned him in their obituaries in the days after 9/11/01.

Totally OT - my SO has been watching a Sopranos marathon on A&E, and yesterday, he had to agree that Little Stevie has got to be the luckiest person in America. First, to be part of one of the best, most important bands of all times, and then to land a major role in an absolutely iconic series like The Sopranoes. It boggles the mind.

31. don't want to "hijack " this thread to talk about Bruce, so look for a PM sometime later today
or this evening...got stuff to do right now though, but yeah, it's a no brainer; if I want to see Bruce, it's a major trip, but the alternative is NOT seeing Bruce, which is unacceptable...abq e streeter
