wasn't some absurd joke to screw around with the entirety of western civ. In my field (history) Foucault is either God or the antichrist. You either hate him because he totally ignored the canons of the discipline, or adore his fundamental reinterpretation of the field. I found his work interesting, but frankly a little too opaque to be useful.
