From 347 or so to 137 (or so).

Heavy from childhood, she finally got tired of it and - after watching the Phantom of the Opera (musical) movie - decided to lose weight.

Now she's pretty hot looking!

She also looks a lot younger - could have just been bad photography of her while she was heavy, and the likely makeup job the Today show did on her for her appearance, but in the old pictures, she looked way older than she is.

1. I wonder if she had to have plastic surgery for loose skin
I know a lot of people who lose that much weight have that loose skin problem, especially if you lose the weight quickly. I've lost 104 pounds since January of this year and fortunately things have tightened back up again nicely. I'd rather have the loose skin problem, though, than be morbidly obese. You can fix the loose skin for about $15,000 from what I hear and you are a lot less likely to have the health problems that come with being very overweight.

2. I always worry about huge weight loss like that...
I've lost 50 lbs. about three times, but I always put it back on, and more, after a while. I'm a big fan of stmach reduction surgery. I hope she did it that way, because it would be heartbreaking if she just gained it all back.

6. One can still put weight back on

after bariatric surgery. You still have to follow a diet plan so that you don't.

ETA: The article says she did it without surgery.

4. If you've been heavy for a long time, your body tries to return to it...
It's a very hard fight. Just like water seeks its own level, the body seeks its own weight.
