2. I'm still trying to figure out how they made a movie
out of a book that is only a few pages long and only has a few sentences worth of material

6. They made 3 movies out of a theme ride at Disneyworld. Quite successful at that.
You never know.

3. Good for him! About time someone told these hypervigilant over-coddling asshole parents
to get the fuck over themselves.

If they don't like the movie, then don't fucking go to it. Don't piss and whine because it isn't "safe" for you.

Fucking jackass imbecile selfish pieces of shit.

8. i'm really surprised he said such a thing rather than showing a little
sensitivity, compassion, and understanding to kids and their parents. he's a writer for god's sake--he most certainly could have come up with a better response than go to hell.

11. He's a writer and his words were spot on
Good writers don't waste words, he told the piss-and-moan crowd to go to hell. It's not a question he should have to answer, its the parent's responsibility to know if their child can handle the content.

along the line that you just said: "its the parent's responsibility to know if their child can handle the content."

15. Are you kidding? His other book is "Pierre"
In which the young protagonist is eaten by a lion!

Sendak is 80 years old, and--as it turns out--accidentally killed his friend when they were children. I'm sure he doesn't need to be told how to understand kids' or parents' reactions to horror.

and I personally think children under 5 should not go to movies. Rent the damn video and watch it at home. (I have kids, I tried to take mine to a movie once when they were little. FAIL, they were more interested in running down the aisles than watching the movie, I see lots of other parents have the same predicament)

It's rated PG - that should be clue one it's not about frolicking teddy bears running through fields of sugar plums

13. The old Disney cartoons are TERRIFYING!
Monstro was a million nightmares.. The Witch in Snow White would freeze kid's blood.

If you don't get scared, you don't get the warm fuzzies at the end of the movie.

14. The witch in "Snow White" scared the crap out of me!
The witch in "Sleeping Beauty" was scary, too - especially when she turned into the dragon! :scared:

19. good
I was a little scared of the book when I was little, but it grew to become one of my favorites.

ps. I'm going to be Max for Halloween this year... I anticipate a bunch of parents will dress their little boys up in the same costume.
