So Windows 7 comes out in a couple of weeks, should I upgrade?
Or keep using Windows 3.1?

3. That would look good on my notebook.
It currently dual boots XP (downgraded it from Vista) and Jaunty, so I'll likely upgrade (thank god I never have to use madwifi again like I did with Hardy Heron). Is that the default or Blubuntu. I love changing it around.

For my desktop, Windows is more useful. I've actually been using Windows 7 for some time now and it comes across as a fairly polished product.

20. Everyone I know who hated vista seems to adore 7
Either they're doing something right or it emits e-heroin.

5. I like the dos suggestion. The more they have "improved" the worse they seem to have
got. I have Vista and XP and originally had dos in the mid 80's.
I see no advantage to Vista or XP. Yesterday I had to go to dos (command, on Vista) to do something anyway.
So for all the improvements, you still have to know what you are doing, and then go and do it.

6. My dear Liberal Veteran...
I am definitely going to upgrade....in a while.

There are usually bugs in any new program, and I want to give it time to get them worked out...

But, yeah.

I will upgrade. NEXT year!

:hi:

7. I feel the same way.
I will upgrade one or both of the laptops next year.

I am happy with Vista, it is working well.

I have heard Windows 7 isn't buggy but I don't know.

8. Not being a computer expert by any means I simply keep one thing in mind.
The first generation of many if not most of Microsoft's products are buggy as hell and leave much to be desired in the way of stability.

9. My son-in-law, who is a profesionnal computer geek, says he
likes Windows 7, and thinks it's head and shoulders above Vista.

And full disclosure, he works at Microsoft, and he worked on the development of Windows 7. But he's a smart guy, and if he thinks something is a piece of shit (like he thinks Vista is), he won't hesitate to say it.

10. A friend of mine has been running Widows 7

for a while and he is very impressed. He's even throwing a launch party. He says they worked out all of the issues that Vista had and this one runs faster and smoother. I won't get it until my laptop or old desktop kicks the bucket.

11. I have it running on a virtual machine
my co-worker upgraded his workstation to it a few weeks ago and hasn't run into any issues. I can't stand this Vista 64 and will probably upgrade next week.

12. It might be a good idea to wait a few months and let them work out the
inevitable bugs. The early adopters almost always have a tougher time with things.

MY friend works at a PC repair and Network Administration company. apparently they can download up to 10 copies of each version and free CD keys

Also.. check this out.

Apparently if you have a home business ( or make one up for that matter ) you can get free copies of everything Microsoft.

17. Actually, I pre-ordered during the half-price sale a couple of months ago.
That said, I've been using W7 (pre-release) for months now and think it is their most polished product to date. Not entirely dissimiliar to Vista, but more "clean".

I can't wait, I have Vista now and it blows. I'm thinking of putting the RC on my work comp to test it out.

21. running 7 since fathers day...
my kids bought me a brand new dell for fathers day and been using 7 since...i have great kids!

it`s x on roids with vista graphics and as my son said it`s more logical than x.but you might as well bite the bullet and upgrade everything in the box. it does`t reach it`s max unless you upgrade.
