I'm making a carrot cake

for my in-laws who will come over for "Kaffee and Kuche." Mother in law won't come over for a real meal because she's an insecure control freak who doesn't want me to outshine her in the cooking department.

So my revenge is making her an American dessert. Germans don't tend to eat sweet desserts like we do so I'm making a really sweet cream cheese frosting for the carrot cake.

I hope she likes it. :evilgrin:

2. Somewhere around here I've got a really great carrotcake recipe.

I've made it for friends and it makes a huge cake. The icing is also very sweet, but having done pastry work, I do agree with the idea of less sweetener in desserts. It helps bring out the full flavors of everything instead of just being death by sugar overload.

back on the sweetness of the frosting a bit. As you say, Germans don't tend to eat that stuff. You want her to eat her heart out, not to go into insulin shock.
