My grandmother passed away last night.

Old farm girl. Life long DFLer. Voted for Obama last fall. She was 87. :cry:

This has been a horrible year. :(

My Gramma passed away last winter at 93 and I am sometimes still struck with disbelief because she was so full of the life force.

She was a very tough woman. Polio left her with permanent weakness on one side of her body. She also lost a finger in a farm machine accident when she was in her teens. She always made gorgeous quilts and pillows, my favorite being a huge quilt with adorable cartoonish images of kids from various countries on the quilt squares.

I know all about "horrible." Mine have all been gone for years, including one grandfather who died long before I was born. I lost two within a few months of each other during my senior year of HS. That was no fun. I miss them all.

My grandmother died nineteen years ago, and I still miss her all the time. A tiny little Irish woman with a wicked sense of humor and a love of hockey fights and the Boston Bruins. She was awesome.
