Can anyone figure out how much this ticket really is?

Base fare is $300 one way.

The above advertised Economy fares include the addition of a $111, one way ($222 round trip) air carrier security and fuel surcharge. Fares do not include government taxes, fees and charges of approximately $250, including the September 11th Security Fee of $2.50 for each segment.

1. Answer: A lot more than you think you're paying when you click 'Purchase'
Airlines are so desperate to pass the buck on fees that it's getting really annoying. Hope the pendulum swings back soon...

2. It doesn't look that complicated
"air carrier security and fuel surcharge" is basically airline speak bullshit. It's part of their cost for doing business and it's already included in the quoted price, so there's no need to worry about it. They just include it to try and show that it's not their fault that ticket prices are so expensive.

Government fees are a bit more complicated because it depends on the government they are dealing with. I just booked a flight halfway across the world and the taxes didn't add that much to the cost, but depending on the country you are going to they can be quite high. At any rate those costs are going to be the same regardless of which airline you go with, unless they happen to connect through a country with much higher taxes.
