So about the new Star Trek timeline
When is Q or Captain Braxton of The Federation Timeship Relativity or that Daniels guy from the future going to show up and fix the timeline? Isnt that what these people do? Well maybe not Q unless the future changes and he wont get to have any fun with Picard.

But in the other shows someone from the future shows up and says 'This wasnt supposed to happen we need you to fix it blah blah'. At least is Guinan hanging around somewhere going "WTF Just happened!?!! This isnt right!"

2. What do you mean 'fix' the timeline?
Every timeline is perfectly cromulent according to the many world's interpretation of quantum mechanics.

3. That is well said, the concept of fixing a time line because it is somehow primary,
does not address the reason people choose to make futures for themselves and society. So I agree with you, to give one potential future some preferred status based on a bias does not make sense.

First I don't believe in time travel. But when anyone does things they effect the future like creating time lines. And people can have perceptions of what the future should be. Each one could be called a time line.

Some people think the way they thought it should be is the way it should be, just because it was their bias.

I think the choices should be based on the most good for the most people, and the least suffering for the most people. It just makes sense.

That does not mean I do not think about my own prosperity, but there are many important things, and it seems it is possible to find balances where life can be fun and prosperous while achieving better things.

Although the episode with Picard, Q, and the heart is a great episode, sometimes I think it is like the story of the tin man getting a heart. Or maybe it is about how we can grow from a heart ache, and how challenges can make us stronger, even our mistakes or less happy times. And ways to find joy even in the harder times.

7. The downside to the MWI
is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_suicide_and_immortality">Quantum Immortality. As you can see from the link, the topic is controversial. But consider this. I'm fifty and have dodged death quite a few times... a couple of automobile roll-overs, a mountaineering accident, etc. If you're old enough to read this you have probably dodged some yourself. Well, what if you really did die in in an alternate timelime and you only continue to exist in this timelime? Without existence you can't have consciousness and without existence there is no awareness.

As Epicurus http://www.deathreference.com/En-Gh/Epicurus.html#ixzz0URTIIOM7">wrote in Letter, "... death is nothing to us. For all good and evil consists in sensation, but death is deprivation of sensation. And therefore a right understanding that death is nothing to us makes the mortality of life enjoyable, not because it adds to it an infinite span of time, but because it takes away the craving for immortality. For there is nothing terrible in life for the man who has truly comprehended that there is nothing terrible in not living. <Death> does not then concern either the living or the dead, since for the former it is not, and the latter are no more."

The downside is that you are going to live as long as possible. As long as is possible according to QM. You will survive the most unlikely mishaps. You will survive everyone you know. You will become an object of curiosity or a lab rat.

These are the thoughts that keep me up at night.

8. Heh,

It only gives more time to find things to do.

:)

I do believe in overcoming death, but I am not fixated nor worried about it, it is just not something that concerns me. To many other great things to think about.

4. Maybe they already did fix it
Maybe they helped steer Spock through the artificial singularity back in the first place.

6. I think I have heard that before.
It is just a tv show.
It is just a book.
It is just a speech.
It is just a letter.
It is just a thought.
It is just a feeling.

Oh one more thing, (Colombo reference)

Your post...

It is just a post.
