I'm at one of those stages where the only guys I really want are out of my league. I didn't get the sex life I deserved back when I was 25 and hot. Now I'm 45, half-bald, half-round, and my tastes haven't changed.

...it's also grown (more-or-less) into a specific subculture with its own organizations, nite-spots, body ideals, etc.

Broadly (and stereotypically) speaking, you can classify gay men in such catagories as bear, twink, studpup, GQ, circuit boy, and probably a host of other common "types"...

Long ago back home in CA, I found a rainbow flag decal that had been cut into the shape of the bear on the California flag. I thought it was SO COOL. Until people started asking me -- with unmasked derision -- why I had a bear on my car. I explained "it's the bear from the flag!" and they all said, "uh, that's not how it's meant...."

I took it off. But I still think it was a cool sticker and if I thought it was important enough I'd reclaim it!
