Photo of the Day: The Cheesehead Burger from Solly's Grille

From Solly's Grille in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, comes the Cheesehead Burger eaten by Kevin Pang (of The Chicago Tribune and The Cheeseburger Show):

From Solly's, the insane Cheesehead Burger: 2/3 lb patties w/ 1/2 cup butter. So much butter the BUN SLIPPED OFF

Also looks like there's a good amount of grilled mushrooms, onions, and cheese plopped on that burger. But hell, I just want the butter.

2. I can see a couple of problems with that
Obviously the problem with so much saturated fat is congestive heart failure, but I see a more immediate problem as well. I can't extrude a turd that big and I don't know too many people who can. It reminds me of the old joke about the monkey who ate a billiard ball and got it stuck up his ass, so now he measures everything he eats.

3. I've been to Solly's before.
I saw a documentary on cheeseburgers and Solly's was one of the places mentioned. Because I go to Wisconsin every couple years anyway, it was definitely on my itinerary.

It was definitely a sloppy burger, but it was delicious. I had a butter burger with cheese and fried onions. If you're familiar with Culvers, it was kind of like one of their butter burgers, but taken to an extreme. I hope to visit more of the eateries I saw on the documentary, including a burger joint that fries their burgers in 90 year old grease.

5. Butter burgers are quite common here and we were doing it WAY before Paula Deen's show.
It's standard at all of the custard stands.

10. We start with a 1/2 pound of grade a beef, then soak it in rich creamery butter...
Then we top it with bacon, ham, and a fried egg. We call it "The Goid Morning Burger".
