They both have that raw I-can't-believe-it's-not-punk! sound

1. For the uninitiated: the "kill" that is out of view on "Killers" is Maggie Thatcher

2. You must also like 2 Slayer songs and Metallica's "Master of Puppets"
as well as "Holy Wars" by Megadeth. Then you can forever call yourself a metalhead even if you don't like any metal made after 1989.

4. No, you're only a Metalhead if Metal is your main genre.
You're allowed to like other things but Metal has to be the main course of your music diet.

Do you mean you only like the first two Iron Maiden albums and the rest of IM's albums suck, but you also like a whole bunch of other metal? Or do you mean the only two metal albums you like are the first two IM albums?

This is important.

6. They don't "suck"
They're OK albums, I guess. But Bruce Dickinson, tho he may be of the golden throated air raid siren, just never fit for me.

11. Actually, the first option is a common and well respected stand.
"Suck" was probably too strong a word. But there's people who don't like later Maiden albums just like there are those of us who recognize no Metallica albums after ...And Justice For All.

7. I like most of Iron Maidens albums
Even the ones with Blaze Baley in the band. Even though The Clansmen is way better sung by Bruce. I also like the later albums like Dance of Death and even A Matter of Life and Death.

8. No
If you had said first four I would cut you some slack.
Piece of Mind is the greatest metal ever.Number of the Beast is a close second.

9. (The First Four) They're OK...
Edited on Wed Oct-28-09 06:38 PM by Taverner
Do they measure up to anything LZ did? No.

Do they measure up to Black Sabbath - the Ozzy years? No.

But those first two albums did, and more - they went into a punk direction that the later changed.

10. Depends on what your other tastes are.
Bruce's heavily operatic style isn't for everybody. I'd need to see some proof before I can discredit your metalness or not.

15. So it's not just me!
I mean, I like Bruce - but he's just kind of an Operatic Singer. Something that would be in a Sandler Video

I prefer the more Punk sensibilities of Paul DiAnno - he had a voice that just fit Maiden better. The crazy guitar solos with the raw energy of his voice.

Nothing else in either of their careers worked out either

17. Couldn't agree with you more on that!
Paul brought a raw edge that I really enjoyed. Bruce brought too much of a sissified Dungeons and Dragons flavor for my taste. I still listened to them a lot because I dug the guitar work despite Bruce's vocals.

16. "Women In Uniforms"...the best Maiden song EVER...
...and not a trace of Bruce Dickinson in SIGHT.
