The pot smoking scene was cut. The scene when Craig Nelson and Jobeth Williams are smoking a joint in bed.

What the hell is TCM thinking?

1. They did the same thing with Nosferatu the other night
Gone was the scene in which Count Orlock lights up a fattie.

2. Nelson was reading a book about Reagan if I remember?
The irony in that scene was perfect

3. IIRC that book described the model of evil to which Orlock could only aspire

4. Wow, they cut that?
Poltergeist is my favorite horror/suspense film, along with The Exorcist. The story is timeless. A couple of the special effects seem a little hokey now, like the mirror/face scene, but overall that film in engaging even after many viewings.

5. Tried but was distracted by some weird things in the house...
books falling off shelves, some weird knocking and tapping. Wife said it was probably those Polter guys that used to live here.
