Well, it's going to be a few more days in the hospital....
They rooted around and found some interesting stuff inside my lungs.

Outside of the pneumonia and the other infections...

Anyway...

It seems I have these interesting growths that have appeared in my lungs.

Over the months/years I have been coughing these Crystal like objects from my lungs and most of the docs I show them to have all had a deferent explanations. They are a collection of inert product from my inhalers, they are crystallized scar tissue.

Well, they are so rare that a mess of interns are going to have me tell them all about them.

I have collected enough over the years to make a set of maracas.

The point is they hurt like hell when I cough them up,they impede my breathing and they actually cause me to bleed.

Here is the "plug" before my doc pulled it out. He pulled out a whole lot of others as well.

There are a whole lot of more stuff in there and it could actually be a good thing. After 20 years or so, they may have found what it was that is keeping me from breathing. To much inflammation right now to really get a handle on it but I could actually, here's the best part, have a chance, just a chance mind you, of starting to be optimistic about life for more than five years...

Contained, very contained...

And you had jolly well live more than five more years...

4. I'll second that. Owitch!
I knew there was a reason I distrust inhalers. Good luck to you. But the nurses must be getting suspicious about your using the station computer all the time.

8. It's an open WiFi system throughout the Cleveland Clinic....
I can't access a lot of site, especially entertaining ones such as YouTube, but most everything else is easily accessable.

I't my lap top too...

Best investment I have ever made.

Thinking about writing a daily blog about COPD and how to deal with it on good days, bad days, hospital days and just plain old regular days.

2. Wow! That's painful
just to look at, nevermind try to breathe through.

I'm glad they are trying to remove as many of them as possible so that you can breathe easier in the future.

3. It's been an eye opener this time in the hospital....
I know my docs and they know me. They respect the fact I want to be as involved as I can be in my health care. Two really good doctors that I am eternally grateful for every time I think of anything health related.

7. sorry about you still having more time in the hospital coming up
but as you said, could be a good thing. Actually, most likely is. They can't really fix a problem until they figure out just what it is, and sounds like they pretty much have. Sounds like there's more and more reason to be optimistic about the future. Just maybe a few more days there to endure first. As always, my best wishes to you.
