3. This time of year is going to suck for a lot of jobless people not to mention gas is nearly $3 again
Sorry to rain on your parade and burst your bubble.
I don't want to think about how many more retail businesses will close in january after their sales numbers roll in.

4. I'm sorry you live without a parade to rain on.
People have been having enjoyable holiday celebrations forever with limited resources.
Retail sales seem to be up, FWIW, and I think gas will top out at less the $3, but I'm not telling you what to do.

enjoy your gloom.

11. I know what you mean, I was just laid off on Friday
I have a good severance package, but I'm already hunkering down just in case it takes longer to find a job than I would hope. We'll still be doing Thanksgiving and Christmas, but I already know that the gifts that I had planned are already being scaled back.

5. I was talking to my husband about this last night.
Now that Halloween is over ------->ZOOM--------> the rest of the year flies by!

Haven't bought a thing for Christmas, but my husband & I found out that we will be able to spend the day together! (We both work in a no-holidays environment, so it's a real treat for both of us to be off!)

9. without a doubt the most SUCK decade EVER. Period.
Started with the theft, through all that bullshit, every day another attack on everyone, The destruction of the financial system and our 401ks, ending with Lieberman being in the spotlight. :puke:

I'm not doing Thanksgiving this year, we can't get the ingredients here and there are only two of us, so forget it...but Christmas, my best friend from the US is coming over and we are going to have a ball! I can't wait. Happy Holidays everyone!

12. Thank goodness for a positive post!
I love fall and winter too, and the holidays. I love the little things, mostly, buying a new ornament every year and hoping my kids will have them for their families, buying a new Christmas CD every year--I have a strange and wonderful collection--making origami ornaments, having dedicated time with my family. Now and then we'll do something major for the (now young adult) sons but mostly I really enjoy giving them things that let them know I've paid attention and know them and what they like and need. In many ways Thanksgiving has been my favorite, because it's simple and delicious, and we can hang out and play games and enjoy being together.

Here's to health and contentment and, truly, good will toward all people.

13. I love this time of year, too. Baseball helps me avoid Fall
(I just pretend it's still summer) until the holidays kick in. This year I'm with my mom and it's going to be so much fun to make Christmas for her.

14. Happy Start of "The Season" to You too!
It's been rather cold and rainy here, unusual for the South this time of year, but not today; 65 degrees with bright sunshine.

We spent the day hiking up in the North Ga mountains, took the dog, some food and the camera Then I came home and put a Fall Wreath on the front door and raked leaves. Perfect Fall Day!

I got a new 9 foot tree after Christmas last year so I am really looking forward to that. Thanksgiving evening I'ma drag it out and start my Christmas! :7

15. I have my Thanksgiving turkey already.
It'a a massive 23.5 lbs! We'll be smoking the turkey next weekend. Having the turkey ready ahead of time takes a lot of pressure off the big day.

I'm already thinking about decorating for Christmas and baking cookies. We have a simple holiday in that we don't buy gifts, we just enjoy the sights, sounds and foods of this time of year.
