YouTube: Lou Reed w/ the late Robert Quine, LIVE in Italy, "Some Kinda Love/Sister Ray"
"Some Kinda Love" gets clipped to make room for the full "Sister Ray" on YouTube...this is the same performance that's on Reed's "Live In Italy" CD, from an Italian TV broadcast.

1. I saw Robert Quine on tour with Lou Reed in 1984...
when they walked out on stage, I heard someone say, "Hey -- Lou brought his grandfather!"

Robert Quine then proceeded to blow us all away with his AMAZING guitar playing!!

Damn, that guy could play!!

I love his guitar work on Matthew Sweet's album "Girlfriend" -- unbelievable!

2. I have the Matthew Sweet song "Time Capsule" (w/ Bob on guitar) on one of my mix CDs...love it.
My favorite Bob story...also the most unfortunate...is the one about how Lou mixed Bob's contributions on the "Legendary Hearts" CD W-A-Y down. Seems like Lou thought Bob was an amazing player, too, and couldn't handle it. That led to the inevitable "separation of the ways" between them, and the guy who has pretty much been with Lou ever since, Mike Rathke, is a "capable" player, but he certainly doesn't challenge and push Lou the way Bob did.
