Lowe's grills catch fire in the wrong places; 663,000 recalled
Edited on Thu Nov-19-09 04:35 AM by DainBramaged
Lowe's recalled 663,000 Perfect Flame SLG Series gas grills after nearly two dozen people reported injuries due to deteriorating burners, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said. In some cases, the lids caught on fire.

Using these Chinese-made grills, imported by L G Sourcing, could put consumers at risk of being burned and should not be used until they are repaired, the CPSC said.

The home improvement store told the CPSC it has received about 40 reports of fires from deteriorating burners and 23 reports of lids catching fire. The company said 22 people were injured, most suffering burns to the hands, arms or face.

1. More cheap crap from China.
What's it going to take before people get angry enough to put a stop to it? First our pets die. Then the drywall corrodes everything. Does it need to cause an epidemic before we do something?

5. knew it would happen eventually
I went out looking for a gas grill last summer - after deciding to give up my charcoal burner. The last time I bought one was maybe 10 years ago? What a bunch of CRAP. Absolutely the worst pieces of over-hyped garbage: huge shelves, crap metal, worthless burners, tack "outdoor mega size" crap.

The $100-$200 dollar range was absolutely crap - not even an option for something basic.

Hell - even the big $$ stuff was crap - plus it was gigantic size.

I finally found an old, heavy, solid Weber at a garage sale for $20 WITH fuel tank! I took it home, cleaned, it ordered some parts and it's good as new.

ONE recall by Weber, dating back to 2007, affecting 14,000 grills. And GUESS were they were made?

Hazard: The gas hose attached to the side burner of the grill can crack or break off during shipping
