Poll question: BEST NUMBER 2 HIT OF THE EARLY '70s? (Part 2)
Edited on Sat Mar-20-04 04:05 PM by NightTrain
I'm a fan of neither John Denver nor the Carpenters, but I included them anyway to accommodate those who might just like their music. What the hell, somebody must've liked 'em. After all, they sold millions of records!

1. I admit it
I liked Denver. :) Just don't get drunk and fly. :D

And we got "Thank God I'm a Country Boy" for the 7th inning stretch.

3. Hey, I like "Without You"
It's depressing as hell, but I like it.

6. I've probably just heard it on oldies radio too many times.
Besides, histrionics by white singers generally doesn't appeal to me!

4. WTF -- these songs all suck!
In part 1, the songs were so good it was hard to pick one. How can two polls for the same years be so far apart in quality???

8. Country Roads was Devers best song...
.....and I liked it, so I voted for it.

But if you didnt have Denver or the Carpenters in there it priobably would have been a toss up between Spanish Harlem & Mr Big Stuff

11. Superstar
Love that song. I heard on some "Behind the Music" type show that that was Karen's fave song as well. It was written when she was really getting sick with her eating disorders, and you can totally hear the pain in her otherwise beautiful, clear voice. :(

Sonic Youth also does a mean cover of it. ;)
