Verison Wireless is the biggest rip-off!
They pull all sorts of crap. They told us we can add friends and family numbers for unlimited texting and calls. Then they told us after we got a $240 bill that it didn't include texts. They also charged us $15 to listen to ring tones. I'd love to cancel but we just signed up for a 2 year plan and would have to pay them a ton for the new "free" phone.

1. I'd drop Verizon in a heartbeat too because of their high prices...
but they get the best coverage in this area so I'm stuck with them.

2. I ditched Verizon last year and haven't regretted it one bit.
Besides their high prices, their customer service blows major amounts of ass. I've great luck with AT&T so far.

4. I haven't found ANY cellphone company with no complaints.
Seriously, everyone I know hates their cell phone company for some reason. Every company pulls this same stuff, every company has bad coverage, every company has bad customer service. Just pay your bill, read through all the rules to make sure you are following them and in 2 years move on to a differnet company.

5. Verbal commitments are worth the paper they are on
Sales people can and do say all kinds of crap, be it Cell Phones, Used Cars, etc. If it's not down on paper it doesn't mean much.

6. We had to switch to Verizon when they purchased Alltel.
The Verizon service was the pits; one dropped call after another. Customer service was no help at all. Giving us new phones did not solve the problem.

Finally, we switched to Sprint and have had no trouble. However, Verizon billed us $500 for early termination. So far, my husband is just refusing to pay it, because we never had an agreement with Verizon, we had it with Alltel.

Personally, I would prefer to have a pay-as-you-go phone with a local number. I'd like to check out Skype for long distance calls.

7. Compared to AT & T their coverage is great here.
What I have a problem with are those 2-year contracts. Reduce them to a year or eliminate them altogether.

8. My Verizon phone sucks. Even worse, I apparently live in the black hole for Verizon stores.
I swear I must have passed at least 3-4 T-Mobile stores until finally I found a Verizon store to service my phone which all of a sudden is sucking battery like crazy. They ran a test on it, and claimed there was nothing wrong with the battery. So I have to take it to another Verizon store even further away, where they do replace my battery, and it still sucks.

9. no, they'll really give you the unlimited texting, we've been getting ours just fine
Edited on Fri Nov-20-09 12:00 PM by pitohui
have you talked to customer service? if the first person you talked to was a clueless twit/unhelpful, thank them, hang up and call back until you get someone who knows their job

we've been getting the unlimited texting just fine, no extra charges

i get my own free ringtones through myxter.com, i was aware that you don't get a lot of free ringtones at verizon, all you can do abt that is not make the same mistake again (there's a free online program called audacity where you can edit songs you already have into ringtones, then go through myxter to put the ringtones on your phone for free)

good luck, i hope they do fix your bill -- seems like they SHOULD, sounds like we have the same/similar 2 yr contract and we've been texting like typewriters on steroids w.out any extra fees

10. I called and complained about getting text sales messages that I do not read and they
credited my account for all the messages I've received since last year. Everytime I call them with a complaint, they take care of it.

11. I use Tracphone
and I average about 10 dollars a month. No bells and whistles...about 20 dollars for 60 minutes...

12. It sounds like
Your contract did not get updated correctly. I honestly have no issues with Verizon and they do have the best service around here.

Did you get the bundle with the unlimited texts and navigator and all that?
