I'm not crazy about baseball or mom, either...but OTOH, I also don't like Wayne "Sellout" Gretzky, moose meat is gamy and rank, and if I never taste maple syrup again (ate *waaay* too much of it as a kid growing up when mandatory Sunday breakfast was pancakes, bleah!), it'll be too damn soon.

Hell, I think tonight I just hate everyone and everything. :)

Apple pie was served for breakfast at Yale every morning for 150 years. Apparently it was part of the standard New England breakfast in the olden days.

I learned that when I was on campus for Yale's 275th anniversary.

If I'm going to splurge on pie, I'd rather have a cream variety (or better yet- cheesecake!). I've been married to a Yankees fan for 12 years and I pretty much loathe mass media professional team sports, so you can guess how much I adore baseball. :eyes: And my mom, I tried for 30 years to make her like me, but she had other plans, so mom's off the list too now. (I'm a cool mom though or so they tell me.) :)

And a properly-made apple pie is delicious! It shouldn't be too sweet, should have plenty of spices. I may have to make one tomorrow or the next day, now that you've reminded me of how long it's been since I had apple pie.

I don't care for baseball and mom has been dead many years but apple pie should not be mocked. (I've never believed that mock apple pit, made with Ritz crackers standing in for apples, could be very good.)
