Do you drink water?
I really don't. I hate water. It's just so plain and boring. I usually drink diet soda instead even though I know it's just not as good for me.

Sometimes, I'll try to disguise water by adding some o.j. to it or something but then it isn't really "water" anymore.

Anyone else just can't stand drinking just water?

Cutting out the 6 Pepsi's a day probably did more than the water. I also found that water helped curb my appetite.

5. No, I've learned to like it
I get mine fresh from a local spring. One thing that can help you make it more palitable is to add about a teaspoon of sea salt into a liter of water. It makes it easier to drink, and the sea salt helps with trace minerals and balancing acid/alkalinity. That was how I got so I could drink water. Before that, it was soda, which can cause osteoparosis in women, especially ones my age!

6. Please get yourself a Britta filter
You need at least 3 glasses a day or your body will have to extract what it needs from really bad sources, like the coca cola you drink. I used to hate water too since it tastes like crap most everywhere you go. Unless you have your own well water, you will need to filter your water to get it to taste good (actually not taste at all).

I have 3 pitchers constantly being filled and drained by my family. A nice cool glass of water is so much more refreshing than something that layers your tongue with chemicals.

9. Definitely!
As a matter of fact, the recommended 8 glasses of water a day is being upped to 11. If you don't drink enough water, you run the risk of many health problems. If you don't like plain water, add ice cubes to it, or buy bottled fizzy water - my dh and I go through at least one 6-pack of 20-oz. bottles/day.

For variety, I drink seltzer water. I get the fizz and taste without chemicals, additives, and sugar.

edit: I drink 6 glasses/day. 8 or 9 if I'm exercising or it's the height of summer.

13. I don't like it, but TRY to drink it
I also love the Giant Eagle (western PA grocery store) carbonated water, especially the tangerine/lime flavor. I can't get enough of that stuff! It does have aspartame, which is worrisome, but it's better than drinking Pepsi, which is the only other beverage I truly love besides milk and hot tea with milk and sugar.

16. Find plain Selzter water
There is a brand called Vintage Seltzer.

True Seltzer it has no Aspertame or Splenda even. Just water and CO2. And it also comes in Lemon/Lime flavors. I can usually find it on sale for 2 liters/dollar.

19. Soda
is addictive.
When I cut out cola drinks from my diet I went through withdrawal. No kidding.

Now I drink Brita water mostly, sometimes with a little bit of whatever juice is on hand, about a tablespoon per glass just to change the taste, and sometimes I add an orange, lime or lemon wedge to plain water or drink the fizzy water stuff with no crap in it.I find if I just drink plain water I begin to become real observant about all the bad tastes in it.So I try to mix up tastes.
Also,I'll drink iced tea, iced mint tea green tea, herbal teas with no sugar.I usually put nothing in it or stevia.
Sometimes I make my own blends with herbs and tea leaves.
I was sick one day and pissed off I invented an herb tea that can knock out colds and flu. It has like 20 different herbs in it and some propolis..It tastes like crap but it kicks some ass..if you drink my tea at the first symptoms, the cold/flu peters out and you will be OK the next day. I use it all the time and give it to my friends.

17. I love water
It's all I drink now. I used to drink nothing but soda, for the same reasons you do, water bored me. But I've gained an appreciation for crisp, clean chilled water, and that has helped me lose a lot of fat, (although, I drank regular soda, not the diet kind, and that could make a difference as far as the weight loss goes).

18. Not unless I boil it - tap water causes cancer
.
.
.

Most tapwater is treated with chlorine.

Ours got so bad we can smell the chlorine in our tap water.

So I investigated, and found out that SHOWERS of all things are more dangerous in some ways than drinking the water because we are breathing the chlorine fumes.

Some studies over 15 years ago indicated this, but alternatives for the governments was too expensive.

Naah, you say -?

30. you are exactly right
but it's not only chlorine fumes that come out in the shower. i live near a contaminated groundwater plume (MY groundwater - contaminated with MTBE and more :grr:) and an environmental scientist working on the project told me that i should take tepid showers to cut down on the fumes.

36. RE showers, I bought a shower head with the shut off button
.
.
.

So I can do a "wet-down", shut it off, then lather up and so on turning it on and off for rinse cycles and conditioner, whatever.

And re groundwater? Heck, we are finding out especially here in Ontario, where we use a lot of road salt in the winter, that THAT is getting down into the water tables and causing a problem.

Also, up in Canada we use mostly asphalt for our roads, and especially farmers near where road construction has been done, the asphalt run-of is poisoning the water to the extent it kills their CATTLE!

Back to washing with water. although I don't boil the water before washing, I tend now to leave the sink full of water and let at least some of the chlorine "aerate" it's way out before I use it for washing. My skin problems, while minor, have disappeared.

For drinking water, whenever I make a pot of water for coffee, I put some of the water left to cool and then into the fridge to drink later. It's not a big deal once one gets organized.

And re bottled water? - Nope, not for me. I've read about the recall of some manufacturer's bottled water, so to me it's not worth the risk/convenience, never mind the price!

Not only that, most bottled water comes in plastic containers, and there is an increasing concern over the safety of the chemicals in the PLASTIC.

I'm beginning to think beer is safer!

And more fun. :silly:

27. Yes, I am thirsty
I probably should drink more water. I've been drinking too much soda lately. I don't mind that water is boring. It is healthy and doesn't have calories. I am also thirsty a lot. I can easily drink a quart or more of water within a short period of time. 10-12 glasses isn't nearly enough for how I am most times. Somehow my body uses more water than most people's even though I don't sweat a lot. I think that I must have wetter respiration or something.

38. None since 1998 thereabouts
When I was at a restaurant in Spokane, WA reading a news story about how they found plutonium in the groundwater. It isn't that I don't like water but I don't trust the gov't to keep my water clean anymore.

And the regs being 50ppb for arsenic when the safe level is no higher then 10ppb frankly keeps me away from the stuff. Just diet soda for me.

39. Constantly....I love water, especially
ice cold water. Sometimes with lemon in it. I don't really drink it because I am supposed to, but I have always been one of those chronically thirsty people ever since I was a little kid. Everyone thought I was diabetic or something, but I'm not.

I always carry around a liter bottle filled w/ water - especially in the warmer months. I get dehyrated very quickly, but I think it keeps you healthy too by flushing out toxins and keeping your skin and organs hydrated. Whenever I drink a lot of diet soda or coffee or any other liquid, I just don't feel as good for some reason.

Try it ice cold, it's much more thirst quenching that way (to me, anyway). Or if you like herbal tea, you could make iced herbal tea in your refrigerator - just throw in a few bags and let it steep for an hour or two.
