my father died this morning

i need to vent :( i'm sorry....

we didn't always have the best relationship (although i would have wanted one), but it's still painful. he was 80 and had cancer (metastatic lung probably - he refused to be tested to find out), COPD and emphysema and was ready to go, but i didn't expect it to end the way it did. apparently, he stepped out of bed and fell HARD. when mom found him, he was all skinned up and had a bloody hand from hitting the wall, as well as a knot on his eyebrow. hospice came for awhile and he seemed stable, but just 5 minutes after they left, dad just quietly passed. mom left the room for a minute and then he was gone. he did not want to be resuscitated and wasn't. RIP dad...:cry:

My dad died 10 years ago from similar circumstances.

It'll be three years this March since my dad passed. He was 87. Never easy under any circumstances.

He probably died the way he wanted to: with not much fuss.

I hope that you have enough happy memories of him to concentrate on them and to cherish them. And I hope that you can be there for your mom who is probably too traumatized now to even realize her loss.

i'm flying to arizona on thursday to be with mom for a few days. the fact that it's during the holidays makes it worse, because mom loves christmas.

He is now 92, lives thousands of miles away by his choice. We talk on the phone maybe 4 times a year for a few minutes.

My dad had passed too a little while back but I didn't feel like posting it at the time. Like you, didn't have the best relationship with him as he was a right winger.

Just try not to burden yourself too much.
