Poll question: The Sopranos (no not the ones you're thinking.)
Edited on Mon Dec-28-09 11:09 AM by Graybeard
I love the era of these wonderful movie sopranos. Which is your favorite?

Deanna Durbin: Three Smart Girls, One Hundred Men And A Girl. Durbin is 88 yrs old and living in France.

Kathryn Grayson: Show Boat, Kiss Me Kate. Grayson is 87 yrs old and teaches voice, privately.

Jane Powell: Royal Wedding, Seven Brides For Seven Brothers. Powell is 80 yrs old and lives in Conn. with her husband, former child actor Dickie Moore.

Ann Blyth: The Student Prince, Kismet. Blyth, mother of five, is 79 yrs old.

My vote goes to Jane Powell. I loved the pure, sweet sound of her voice. "Wonderful Day" in Seven Brides is lovely.

3. Durbin retired n 1948.
In the 1950s she was lured by MGM by being offered Kiss Me Kate and The Student Prince but she refused.

2. Actually, this was what came to mind. I think I watched fifteen
minutes of the television series. It's tough, but I'll vote Powell

4. Wouldn't it be great if TCM could get these four together
...for an interview with Robert Osborne? I remember seeing Jane Powell do a "Private Screenings" hour with him that was so good. Of course it will never happen. Deanna Durbin's last interview with anybody was in 1949!
