***OFFICIAL ROSE BOWL THREAD***
Ducks spot Ohio State a 10 point lead in the first quarter, but they're on the comeback trail.

2. My dear gratuitous...
So, clarify, for this football idiot, please...to spot a lead means to be in the lead?

Oh, and:

GO BUCKS!

4. Some might say . . .
Well, some might say that Ohio State got off to a fast start, and scored the first 10 points of the contest. But true aficionados recognize that Oregon just let them have 10 easy, early points so that the comeback could be all the more stirring.

8. Ohio State Aesculus glabra ??

Dear CaliforniaPeggy: I am with you. Have to cheer for the Duckies because I am finding it difficult to chant "GO Aesculus glabra."

----------------

Was wondering what in the world a buckeye is. Discovered that it is a stinky tree native to Ohio. :wow:

The tree species Aesculus glabra is commonly known as Ohio buckeye, American buckeye, or fetid buckeye. It derives its unflattering common name from the disagreeable odor generated from the flowers, crushed leaves, broken twigs, or bruised bark. (from Wiki)

----------------

Buckeyes, no slam intented, cuz wiki also says:

The Ohio buckeye is the state tree of Ohio and an original term of endearment for the pioneers on the Ohio frontier, with specific association with William Henry Harrison.

So if your Aesculus glabra win today, here's to you

:toast:

Congrats to the Buckeyes. My brother and his family marched in the parade and attended the game (nephew is a member of the Ohio State School for the Blind Marching Band) so what a great memory for them.

7. Fuck Conference loyalty
Seriously, what a dumbass concept.

Why should I pull for certain teams just because they happen to play in the same league as my favorite team?

I guess it comes in somewhat handy when NCAA basketball bids are handed out but otherwise it's just part of The Man's brainwashing us into GroupThink.
