1. This may be the hardest poll in the history of DU
Hayden for Dr. Stranglove and The Godfather vs. Ryan for The Wild Bunch and Billy Budd. Just to name a few of their films.

Hayden. Thinking about Johnny Guitar and The Killing. Plus Sterling is a cooler name.

3. Both were right wing guys, but Sterling Hayden did some amazing stuff in WWII.

Ryan liked doing Shakespeare with Katharine Hepburn....but my vote's with Hayden.
