in the wild, it would be climbing thorny branches, rocks, fighting desert heat and cold extremes, scrounging for food and dealing with predators. I think climbing on a few pairs of plastic sunglasses is NOT a hardship. Hell, if the owner turned his back, it would probably crawl all over everything in the house anyway. The owner seems to handle him with great care and I'm sure the guy is spoiled rotten.

5. I think it's what they've evolved to do
I doubt the chameleon knows the difference between camouflaging to a branch or a pair of sunglasses.
