The nurse, from my doctor's office called...
and she said, very slowly, "Do you have a few moments to go over your lab results?"

You know, a person could eat a sandwich while someone from the south gives their salutation!!

I don't think I was breathing at that point. I said, yes, and waited.

It seemed like the longest 30 seconds I can remember, before she finally just spits out, "So the polyps were benign."

Whew!

And......drum roll.......

I shouldn't have to have another Colonoscopy for another 10 years!!

:woohoo:

1. I think that only a doctor could give you bad news.
Edited on Fri Jan-15-10 12:43 PM by Orsino
Right? And that hearing from a nurse or staff means is good news?

In any case, congratulations!!!!

3. Thanks
I don't know, it's always the nurses who call me (even with not-so-good news).

Maybe it's just my docs, but the doctors don't ever talk w/me on the phone.

14. My doctor's nurse calls me with all the news.
but usually I have to go in to get all the details. Frankly I prefer the nurse because I don't have to console her. ;)

19. I don't know about that.
Twice now I've gotten panicked calls from the doctor's nurse instructing me to immediately go to the pharmacy for a prescription she called in and take it even before paying for it.

They tell me that I'm the only person they know of that has survived potassium levels as high as I've had.

I'm beginning to think that it might have been a mistake to have told my ladyfriend that she is the sole beneficiary of my Will.

5. I had my first Colonoscopy a couple of months ago
they found two tiny polyps that turned out to be benign and all the other biopsies were benign too!

I am glad they didn't find any cancer but I was also a little dissapointed that they still couldn't tell me what is making me sick.

7. Oh Roon...
I'm so sorry they still didn't find what is making you sick. :-(

Sometimes it takes the longest time... like a co-worker of mine who had food allergies.

I don't really care how I die as long as it is quick and painless! ;-)

It was pretty scary imagining the worst case scenario.

13. Great Caesar's Ghost!
The night before he was assassinated, Julius Caesar was asked at a dinner party his opinion of the best way to die. His answer: "Suddenly."

I don't really care how you live as long as it is long, painless, and happy. :-)

16. I use to want to die unexpectedly in my sleep.
Edited on Fri Jan-15-10 05:34 PM by rebel with a cause
But now that I know it is just around the corner, I want to know what corner it is around. :eyes:

Congratulations on your good news.

How bad is the colonoscopy? Colon cancer kind of runs in my family, my dad and one sister, but I figure since I had breast cancer, no family history of this at all, that I am immune to all of the others. In case you haven't guessed, I live in the state of Denial.

23. Oh no
Please go ahead and get it over with. It's the kind of thing, if you have anything, you'd want to catch early. Denial is no way to live... it just postpones the inevitable.

11. I used to have to give abnormal pap results to women over the phone
sometimes when they were out in the field and occasionally when they were deployed overseas. Those were tough. I remember each and every one. Benign results never warranted a phone call, though. That's an interesting way to go about it. I can understand your anxiety. Your heart must have stood still for a few seconds, and I'm so very glad that it turned out the way it did. Woohoo, indeed!!

If I had my druthers, I'd have the colonoscopy!

Anyway, congrats. I hate the prep for that procedure.

there will be enough heads up asses to make them obsolete....in their diverse diversity.
