Just seeing the words on a menu makes me throw up in my mouth a little bit.

Please people - listen to me. It's just wrong!

48. Fish is not seafood?
Seafood is any sea animal or plant that is served as food and eaten by humans. Seafoods include seawater animals, such as fish and shellfish (including molluscs and crustaceans). By extension, in North America although not generally in the United Kingdom, the term seafood is also applied to similar animals from fresh water and all edible aquatic animals are collectively referred to as seafood.
Edible seaweeds are also seafood, and are widely eaten around the world, especially in Asia.

7. they are good!
get some white fish - even tilapia will work, and either fry the fish right in a corn tortilla for crisy, or cook the fish however you want (grilled is REALLY yummy) and put it on steamed corn tortillas, shredded cabbage, a little fresh salsa, maybe a few pieces of avocado, and a squeeze of lime - oh and don't forget an ice cold beer or a margarita!
(the classic beach ones have mayo but - blech)

10. I live in Los Angeles and have for very many years, and have
visited Mexico, and all parts thereof, at least once a year for many years.
Amongst mostly Americans here, and American tourists in Mexico, the biggest thing they have is ...
fish tacos.
These gabachos go nuts over fish tacos. That's all they want. Amongst the Mexicans I don't think they are that big, they have them, but don't go so nuts over them.
So, I would say do not go to Los Angeles or Mexico.

But let me see if fish tacos are available in Nebraska. Oh look, from the Lincolnite (Nebraska) blog:

I beg to differ! California Taco in Omaha has the best fish taco in the state."

It's the battered, deep fried fast food type ones that are weird. IIRC fish tacos are a Baja thing.

Baja Fish Tacos

Recipe courtesy of Fisherman's Market and Grill
Prep Time: 20 min Inactive Prep Time: -- Cook Time: 12 min Level:
Intermediate Serves:
4 to 6 servings Ingredients

White Sauce:
1 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup milk
4 tablespoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon garlic salt
Fish Tacos:
Oil
2 packages Tempura Batter Mix
1 can beer
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
24 ounces boneless cod, cut into 2-inch pieces
6 corn tortillas
2 cups shredded cabbage
2 limes
Directions
For the sauce:

Mix all ingredients together and set aside.

Preheat a fryer or a deep pot halfway filled with oil to 375 degrees F.

Mix 1 of the packages of batter, but only use 1/2 the required amount of water and use beer for the remaining amount instead. Add the beer until the batter becomes almost like a heavy cream consistency.

Using the other package of batter add salt and garlic powder, coat cod pieces with the dry mix, then dip into prepared batter. Deep-fry for about 3 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.

Place fried cod pieces on warmed corn tortillas, add white sauce to fish, a little shredded cabbage and a squeeze of lime, to taste.

fish taco, because it was raining hard, and there was no place to park, and the only restaurant around was a Rubio's. So, I ordered a fish taco, and had to admit to myself I was totally wrong. The Rubio's special, world-famous fish taco is really incredible.

33. A left coast abomination, undoubtedly dreamt in a nightmare by...
the same person who came up with the pineapple pizza.

It is possible to find a way to put fish in a taco shell and make it fairly appetizing. I myself have run out of bread and put tuna salad in taco shells and actually ate it. Not bad at all, if not a real replacement for good jewish rye.

But, that wasn't a "tuna taco" nor is a tasty fried fish in a folded tortilla a "fish taco."

Now I cannot even say fish taco in my home.

51. There is a restaurant in San Jose called "Dia de Pesca"...
...it's actually a former taco truck that's been converted into a restaurant with a nift outdoor dining patio. The "JATBAR" (Jason & Terry's Bay Area Review) review is here:

http://www.jatbar.com/reviews/San_Jose/Dia_de_Pesca.asp

There are 12 photos in the review but Jason & Terry ask that people do NOT direct link to them, which is why I haven't posted any here.

They specialize in fish tacos, although they have a chicken taco called the "Chickenzita" that's pretty tasty too.

I've had their tilapia burrito...yes, a fish burrito...and it tastes a LOT better than you might think.

61. It depends on the fish. Totally.
I wouldn't make them myself, as if I bother to prepare fish at home I would rather have rice with it. But I had one at a local restaurant (and our restaurants are pretty hit and miss!) and it wasn't bad. Kinda small and pricey for the size it was, so I wouldn't bother to eat one again, at least not here. But it wasn't bad at all.
