Ever read/done Spoon River Anthology? Which character was most like you?

In High School we did the play. I was Frank Drummer. I didn't really understand the whole thing when I did it. I just felt...connected with him.

OUT of a cell into this darkened space--

We performed it when I was in college, at the end of a course called "Speech for the Theater." I remember doing three speeches, but the one which sticks in my mind was Lucinda Matlock. That was my first choice, and I got it. :-)

41. Lucinda Matlock

I went to the dances at Chandlerville,
And played snap-out at Winchester.
One time we changed partners,
Driving home in the moonlight of middle June,
And then I found Davis.
We were married and lived together for seventy years,
Enjoying, working, raising the twelve children,

Anger, discontent and drooping hopes?
Degenerate sons and daughters,
Life is too strong for you—
It takes life to love Life.

But dear GOD it was boring.

I have no favorite.
