Du member rebel with a cause has passed away

She died Friday January 22 at her home from cardiac arrest. I know this because she was my mother. I probably should have posted this sooner, but I just couldn't build up the courage. It's almost like typing this right now makes it more real and final.

She had been suffering from congestive heart failure for the past few years and recently had been having some trouble breathing, but I didn't anticipate that she would be going so soon. The DU community has been a real distraction for her from her health problems. She didn't get out of the house as much as she used to, so she would spend her time reading the latest news and chatting with all of you. I think she spent most of her time in the Barack Obama group and in the Lounge.

There were times when she would get frustrated with the way discussions were going on the site, but she stayed on until the very end. I've searched DU for things she's posted recently, but I can only read so many before it's too painful.

So please appreciate the ones you love while you have them with you. My brother and I loved her dearly and she knew that. There's never been a minute that we doubted her love.

I'm so sorry. And I know what you are saying about the way expressing it, whether it be in writing or having to tell someone, makes it seem more real. :cry:

Thank you for sharing the news of your mother's passing. I recall communicating with her once and she was very kind. Her courage and playfulness inspired me and she was kind to me just when I needed it. I wish her peace.
