27. Yes.
Proper pronunciation of the word "ideas" if you're from the area. Take the "r" out of most words, place it elsewhere.

15. Hmmm.
Here in Ohio, we have towns called Medina, Genoa, Milan, Lima and Toledo--all named after foreign cities. Instead of calling them Med-EE-nah, JEN-oh-ah, Mih-LAN, LEE-mah and Toe-LAY-doe they are Meh-DIE-nah, Jen-OH-ah, MY-lan, LEYE-mah and Tol-EE-doh.

Still, I see your point. I used to live near Worcester, MA. For those who don't know, locals call it either "WOOH-stah" with the first sylable sounding like "book" rather than "boot" or else they call it WISS-tah. Nevertheless, everone else in this country seem to call it "WAR-chess-ter." Now, I can see "WAR-sess-ter," but where do they get the "ch?" They also say WAR-chess-ter-sheyer instead of WOOH-ster-sheer. It's quite maddening.

16. Mass gets all the publicity but Rhode Islanders have even worse accents
I can say that - I grew up there. It's some kind of crazy mix of all that's bad from Mass and New York combined into some barely understandable garble.

I had a friend who joked that when he went off to college in Michigan, he finally realized the words were Soda and Cider, Soder and Cidah. My husband actually had to clue me in on how badly I pronounced the words "saw it". It's been so long I'm not sure how I used to say it but I think it was all one word like "sawrit". (We insert Rs where the don't belong, drop them where they do... )

I live pretty near Worcester (woo-stah) now and have heard it butchered plenty although it was Billerica that got me in trouble when I first moved to Mass. I had made such a gallant attempt to pronounce my "er's" having been handicapped by growing up in RI - I was crushed when I found out it was pronounced Bill-ri-ca. I just can't win.

22. With the silent W
like Warwick and Berwick and Woolwich. At least in old England and not New. But British English is frequently confusing in terms of spelling vs pronunciation; 'Featherstonehaugh' = 'Fanshaw'; 'Cholmondeley' = 'Chumley', and so on.
