A Match.com story
Yeah, I'm going through a divorce and I'm ready
to date again. I joined M.com a couple of weeks
ago. Got some winks, some e-mail, even made
one date.
Then, someone got into my account, took my
stuff off, put his or her stuff on, under another
name, of course after I'd paid for a 6 month
subscription.
This past week I couldn't get into my profile.
I finally found a phone number for M.com and
called Texas to get the skinny.
So, my money was refunded. No apology, no
real explanation...does this happen frequently?
I have to think this happens more often than
not, but someone should investigate M.com
and see what's what.
I guess I'll have to meet guys the old fashioned
way...matchmaker! hehehe.

1. stop giving dating sites money.
www.plentyoffish.com - free, and in my area, a ton of people on it. very barebones site.

www.okcupid.com - free, and in my area fewer people than PoF. lots of bells and whistles i find annoying, but it's free.

2. Thanks.
I've gotten a little wary now of total strangers with
unverifiable information trying to meet up...but
maybe I'll get over that?!

4. everybody you haven't met before is a total stranger with unverifiable information
whether you plan to date them or not.

best advise i can give when meeting someone from a date site:

have several e-mail or IM exchanges, then a couple calls. hopefully, if you're paying attention, you can screen out the undesirables and incompatables.

then meet at a public place - coffee shop, book store, etc. - a no pressure situation you can easily escape from.

trust me on these things, for good or bad, i've been doing this for years.

6. You've been dating for years?
That doesn't give me hope.

That is good advice though. Thank you.

8. it may take awhile. reading your requirements below, your demographic is a narrow one.
it will be much more pleasurable if you're not 'desperately seeking', which i never am.

(i don't mind being single or being alone, but i'm weird like that)

in the meantime, enjoy your life, and have fun with the process.

i've had many enjoyable encounters of varying degrees with nice women. most went nowhere, but i had fun. some became good friends.

A DUer maybe.
A guy, coz I like guys and I'm a gal.
Someone from 45-60, coz I'm in
that range.
Someone local: L.A.
Funny, cute, clean-shaven, politically more left.
Employed.
Tells the truth.
Loves Preston Sturges films, good food and wine,
and his female side.
Is in decent shape, loves his work and play
and makes goals.
Not necessarily religious, but spiritual.
Appreciates art.

Are you out there?

Leave a message in my inbox ;-)
